Last thing I've read is that the team is maybe looking into custom hotkeys (after more important stuff is done). I can't find the quote though, this thread is rather long!
BTW there are keyboards that can be remapped on the hardware level (even macros are possible) using DIP switches and function keys. I have a Vortex Pok3r, which is one of those. It's missing lot's of keys (incl. F-Keys and Arrow Keys which have to be accessed with a key combination) and it's rather built with programmers using oldschool text editors in mind but those missing hotkeys important for SC (location hotkeys etc.) could be remapped as well.
It is ridicoulsly expensive though (ca. 130$ or 150€).

I dont think you should be able to change hotkeys cuz i see it part of the learning curve, accuracy and practice makes the better player.

I dont see a problem with the standard hotkeys. Why is this always an issue?

I think one of the design goals is to provide potential new players an enviroment they would expect from a multiplayer RTS in this day and age like modern OS support, automatical matchmaking and custom hotkeys.

When's the next invite wave? I signed up on the 13th of May and I'm ready to give up.
|
What is up with this invite thingy.. I did sign up like 4 months back.. pretty unfair.. to some.

I plan to just stop paying attention to the project. It's great to see how far everything has come and all but all my foreign friends have stopped playing Fish and iCCup to hook up on SB.
|
Why don't you just make it open for everyone and still call it alpha / test environment.
|
I read that the project is being done at the expanse of your free time . How about putting the project on kickstart or patreon ? So starcraft fans can fund the project to speed up the process of the development ? .
|
How does that speed it up?
It would be nice for them, no question, but I doubt they will quit their jobs for it and I doubt there would even be enough money in it for that even if they were willing to.
And they don't owe it to anyone to let them in. I also am subscribed for months and not in yet, so for me personally I would like it if they just opened it for everyone.
But it is their project, and it is awesome either way.
The only fear I have is that there might be a momentum right now with all the greats playing BW again and they might miss am opportune timing for establishing a playerbase.
But then again I don't want to end my post like that so again big props to you guys, this is something awesome you are doing right there!

Just pushed a new update, here's the changelog:
- Replay browsing and watching. Not only do replays save automatically, but now you can watch
them without ever leaving ShieldBattery! Browsing is limited to My Documents\Starcraft\maps\replays, but any replays you put in there will be watchable. Currently this only allows for single player watching, multiplayer watching is coming soon.
- Signed installers and files. All of our installers and files are now signed for extra
assurance that you've received a legitimate copy. This should make some overzealous antiviruses and operating systems a bit less angry.
- Maps, maps, and maps, oh maps! Athena, Outsider, La Mancha, Icarus, and Overwatch (the ASL
version) have been added to the available pool.
We'll be sending out another invite wave now as well.
|
Omg, please pick me on the next wave! I've been waiting for months, too!
|
|
got an invite praise the fucking lord
|
Still no invite, time to cave in. Hope the project continues well guys, but nine months is too long of a wait for me.
