Has anyone ever played team micro arena? It's a UMS for a maximum of 6 people. You are split into two teams, and there are 3 stage selections. It is somewhat similiar to TMM I believe.
Each unit you choose is worth a certain number of points. Lings are worth 50, goons 500, reaver 800, dark archon over 1000, etc.
At 5000 points you get your first hero (dual reaver is very strong, as is lurker and arbiter).
At 10k you move on to the 2nd unit selection stage. Here you get alot more stronger units.
At 20k you get another hero and at 35k you get to the 3rd unit. At 50k you get another hero and the last is at 100k I believe.
It's a ton of fun! Give it a try. The map is located here : http://download.yousendit.com/DF64855A7A1650DD

i dont remember, but i have played it before i LOSTT

Who HASN'T played it?

Indeed, Team Micro Arena is quite old.
I'd rather play TMM, much more fun
|

It was made by cygnus I believe, who has posted here (still posts here?). Very fun.
|
Yeah cygnus made it a few years ago... it's changed a fair bit over the past three years and has become more and more balanced although there are still some flaws / worthless units. It can be a very exciting game; we play it alot on east.

TMA, the poor mans TMM. But I remember playing it a lot, pretty awesome.
However, I feel I have to make this known. TKing is never allowed. Not ever. Never play these maps with Mondragon, he will TK.
Upon finding a TKer, everyone should leave and this player should be banned forever (or benched and not allowed in the games for a while until they promise and are given a 2nd chance). Serious business.

You're 100% right. Team killing isnt just cheap, its cheating. Although if some pub team team kills, I keep playing considering it a challenge.
There are some TMA maps that prevent team killing though. One example that comes to mind is TMA Ruby V3. Actually, you CAN team kill in this, but you have to spam attack on your allies units like crazy. Even then it doesnt always work.
Oh and TMA was the first UMS I played. I was hooked for a while and it acted as a gateway to the UMS world for me.

what's TMM and anyone wanna play this via hamachi?

Are you saying that the number of points you get upon killing a unit was set by Blizzard when the game was released (written into the code), and cannot be altered for any UMS at all? Thats kinda weird...

TMM = Team Micro Melee, a UMS map created by Bill307.
It pits two teams against each other. One person on each team plays melee style, ie he has a nexus/hatchery/cc and starts off with four workers. He has to mine and start making units, just like a regular game. The other players get to choose units and micro versus each other TMA style. As the game progresses, the melee players units start playing a role.
Of course like TMA you get heroes and the option to upgrade to better unit selections.

I played TMA a lot but it seems very boring when I attempt to play it now. ;__;
TMM is faster paced and more complecated game with less camping of the spawn points with gay units.
|
Anyone have a download link for TMM? That'd be nice.

Bill, you and cygnus should be pleased. I play a lot of UMS on Asia (best server for me to play on due to timezones) and i see your guys' maps all over the place. Happy stuff

This is true. It is the same in Team Micro Arena, Team Micro Platform, Team Micro Melee, anything. The value of each unit is a formula depending on a unit's default min/gas cost. (Though perhaps one could change the value by editing the cost of a unit in game. I am not sure, but it seems unlikely. Never thought of it before though.)
What you COULD do is set up a hugely complex system of triggers such that "IF PLAYER2 DRAGOON DIE THEN AWARD X POINTS TO PLAYER1", and so forth for every unit. Obviously this is hugely impractical as well as probably game-lagging, and there's really no reason to change the default.

yea, me and bill are planning on setting up a TMM tournament someday after we test the newest version that has quite a few changes. Once we find which one is better, we'll be hosting it so practice up ^^
|
=)
Someone needs to post a download linky! ~~

TMA/TMM/TMP are pretty much the only UMS games I got into, besides Phantoms and Choose Your Defense, early on. Sadly, I haven't been able to get online for awhile now.

Please, please save reps of this if it happens! I love TMM reps. :p

I would LOVE to play TMA by hamachi if anyone is interested! I can easily get a team of 3 players total if you can as well. I have to warn you I don't lose very often ^^
|
Some notes on strategy :
if your opponents have a force at your nexus make sure all of your team spawns at the same time
firebats in your opponents spanw make life very difficult for them, as not many units spawn well into bats
m&m is very strong
on the first level reaver is very strong with proper accompanyment
the person who gets the first hero has a huge advantage if they micro well and do alot of damage with the hero
|
BestZergOnEast, there's an edit button around, see if you can find it. And we don't doubt you seldom lose, seeing as how you're the best zerg player on east. Btw, the strat advice you posted is just common sense, i.e. you micro better, you get your hero faster, reaver > a lot of stuff with proper care and so on.

O_O I didn't realize it was played much outside of op tl-west!

Actually, they are separate values that are independent of the unit's cost. They appear to follow a formula like "2x mineral cost + 4x gas cost" but there are exceptions, most obviously the hydralisk (350 pts).

Team Micro Melee II v0.9 - the 2nd-latest TMM version. "TMM II" is played on a bigger map with a couple of new bonuses (most notably, upgrades). It has no known issues. Team Micro Melee NL v0.9 - the latest TMM version. It is played on the same map as TMM II, however I replaced the overused "Level Up" bonus with a one-time "Next Tier" bonus and lowered the points needed to level up. This allows the other heroes to see more use. Even though the Next Tier bonus is essentially a one-time version of the Level Up bonus, I've seen it used very effectively so far, even on par with the other bonuses. Which makes me think that the Level Up bonus was indeed too strong. (this is identical to "Team Micro Melee II Test", just renamed)
I hate to bump this but...
when i try to download either of the Team Mirco Melee 2 versions, I just get an 8 kb file that obviously doesn't work. Can anyone help? Or provide me with another place to dl the map?

I also fixed a small bug where you sometimes received less gas than you should have for your kills. In the Hyper BGH version, the level ups are now at 6k, 12k, 30k, 48k, 84k, 120k, 156k, then every 45k (so you level up 25% faster than in the normal version).
From the Op TL-West thread, just a few spaces below this one currently. :p

I believe we lost one game to a dropped connection playing ~2 games a day within a month. Oh ya, we beat you, but thats hardly fair considering you had a pubby teamate. If I still played anymore Id challenge you to a rematch
