Most players coming back are going to be really bad for awhile. I mean it would be the same way if a BW player went to SC2. Have to get used to the different mechanics, build orders, etc.

i believe it's based on where you log in for your battle.net friends (americas, europe or asia)
for example if you log into korea server, bnet asia you're going to match with koreans
also takes into account geolocation, but if you use a vpn you can easily spoof it.

Dunno. I went over to SC2 for a month in 2011 and went 70-5 or something ridiculous.

in 2011 people were retarded and the game still in a really raw state. when i went back to sc2 at lotv launch after a 4 year break it took me like 300 games to get masters

Yeah but arguably the game was much more competitive in 2011-13. Nowadays it seems like any braindead amputee can reach GM. The times I've watched some random GM stream and they are basically doing nothing special at all this game except for the occasional APM spam is mindblowing. Being GM back then actually meant a little bit.

I can confirm that this is false. I did try this (bnet Asia - Log in Korea) and I still matched versus the same players I did on my US West account. Doesn't seem to make a difference at all. I do know that VPN's seem to work as Eonzerg does it and gets Koreans.
Kind of crappy that seems to be the only way to play Koreans right now.

I think the next step now is to blizzard to implement a steam like 'modwarehouse' where you can download UMS and rate them/discuss them etc.

I played only 1 ladder game so far and it shows 2-0.
Also it displays my whole /stats on profile, which is 40-14 and doesn't show "Ladder" games, even when I choose it from the menu.

I'm wondering if they are still planning on resetting the ladder, now that some of the kinks are worked out? I guess they are just waiting until it is 100% more smooth.

I've watched a few streamers who play with the HD graphics but keep the game itself at the old 4:3 ratio. I would like to try that out, but am not sure how they do it. Anyone know? Thanks.

Check the pillar box option in the video options. At least I think this is what you want.
