Good to see the masses of pros and coaches think so too. Hope HotS fixes these issues. So far the beta map hasn't felt too promising to me. The "siege" units are basically just npc-spawning units. what do u mean by beta map?

It's too early for them to be passing on judgement on the balance design of SC2.

It's a custom map that implements the units that have already been removed from the alpha.

as for this format... it seems really do or die as everyone has said... if these pros fail to produce interesting SC2 games then this all fails.... i think that everyone's skill in bw is going to still be okay for my personal enjoyment so i won't care if they don't practice it as much.... it will just either be all mind games or all standard macro games with no new builds.... i just hope that i will come to enjoy SC2 as much as bw (that's gonna be hard...) right now... all i see are giant balls of armies bashing each other over and over again....

From a pure competitive standpoint; it's ugly and the results just won't matter. Would have been more fun if it were just SC2. I think if KESPA was given the choice, they'd just want SC2, but they NEED the Brood War fans in Korea. This season is going to be KESPA trying to their hardest to get the Brood War fans to come and see the BW games, cross their fingers and hope when SC2 comes that they'll be into it. If it was only SC2, then there is a huge possibility that a lot of the fans would have went, 'No Brood War? Fuck this. I don't want to watch this new game.' This way, they get to see Brood War at the start and hopefully stick around, watch SC2 and get more into it as the season goes along. Best case scenario: Fans stay for both BW and SC2, support both and by the end of the season, a lot of the BW fans are now both BW/SC2 fans. Worst case scenario: Fans watch BW, leave, and the SC2 half of the league is 8 white people watching and a Bisu fangirl.

I'm definitely disappointed with the amount of contempt and vitriol I've seen in this thread. There are plenty of us who truly do enjoy watching both games, and the elitism and ingroup vs outgroup mentality that seems quite accepted throughout this thread is really unnecessary and poorly representative of the very mature community that really drew me into TL in the first place years ago.
