Man watching the ODT was like watching a good friend die a slow and painful death, especially group E that was so fkn painful to watch.
Seriously the shit Kespa is pulling really pisses me off. If they want sc2 fans they should just switch to sc2 already :/ . You can't have it both ways.

I have never follow the SC1 progamers scene even if i have played and enjoy the game (i often do again the campain and a bit of ladder on internet) but i started to play seriously at SC2 and follow the main events, watch some streams ...
I just post here to ask if someone can explain me what are the big differences between the 2 games that make the big fans of the first opus reluctant to play to the second ?
Basically whatever sc2 does... BW does better. There are many articles already on the flaws of sc2 e.g lack of micro , terrible terrible damage, optimal strategy being very boring, the meta game changes because it gets patched, the scene feels like WWE with all the drama loving fans n all, bnet 2.0 etc etc etc.
One of the big things for me is that sc2 ai does fkn everything, theres no room for me to do shit.Things like muta micro, vulture micro, controlling your army etc gives me the same fun as playing twitch type games like CoD. Needless to say they add more skill differentiators. In sc2 everything runs so smoothly that I don't even feel like I'm playing a game. Best analogy I can come up with from the top of my head is riding a bicycle. The UI requires you to do almost everything, pedaling , steering etc but it is still fun. Now imagine if the bike was 100% automatic with built in gps steering, built in traffic control, built in road hazzard dodging. I imagine that for most people 90% the fun of riding the bike is now gone.
Automatic bike is a better form of transport and more people would probably buy it because the market consisting of fat people is huge and it allows the transfer of cold hard cash to dedicated fat automatic bike riding atheletes who are only in it for the money not to mention the amount of stories and rivalries it generates this all makes bike riding a thing of the past. Nevertheless I would still prefer a normal bike.

It's a pity that such a large percentage of BW fans (~1/3, according to these polls) apparently aren't going to stick around just because the BW pro-scene is dying. Makes me sad that TL will get smaller and that the older and wiser fans will start to disappear
|
@Train Samurai you are kidding me right people don't pedal their bicycle any more huh ? Automatic bike why would I buy it even though if I am over weight . Riding and pedalling the whole bike is the best thing ever ..

Dont worry man, i will still be on ICCup under one name or another as long as its around, and after that, ill be on regular battle.net under one name or another untill blizzard pulls the plug on that, then I still have LAN ((not sure, but im pretty sure)) and if not, I still have my AI mods to play against offine that replicate standard build orders ((sadly without the micro though ))..
And ill be around TL.net as long as there is a Sc:Bw section.
because Sc:Bw4Life 14+ years, aint gunna stop.

Light a cigar and gtfo
nothing to lurk here when BW section is removed;;
you either die a hero or you live long enough to see yourself becoming a villain

It's cool to know that the majority of the TLers in this forum likes both BW and SC2.

I don't really get why people would stop watching, you might not like SC2. But u can't tell me it wouldn't feel good if the pro BW players u guys love tear up the current SC2 scene just to prove a point?

I have come to the realization that I dont have to watch to enjoy that.. Because the Sc2 communty strikes me as the type that will QQ nerf koreans more, when Sc:Bw Pros start ripping them apart..
Besides.. why would I want to watch some 2nd rate talent call the top Sc:Bw brass gooks =/.. the Sc2 community is throwing that around a whole lot lately, and I would rather not associate with that..

Why would we want to prove anything... we're not suffering from inferiority complex... we just like the game.
@Sawamura
Koreans being too good at bike riding killed the "sport" for me. They lack bike riding stories.

And I went lurking, but I couldnt find the thread that had a little clip of Destiny raging calling a korean a skill less gook, because destiny got beat by him.. and the Sc2 communiy, by-and-large, defended his statements, and told the korean to stop complaining about it happening.
*-*on a side note, Destiny is quoted as to saying LoL takes more Skill at the higher level than Sc2, because apperantly you can win a GSL in Sc2 just by going 2 rax into herrion ((<<backhand remark to asians in general, but one doesnt have to think very hard to realize he is refering to koreans specifically))
Sc2 community is falling apart at the seams

Your analogy is so completely broken, it wouldn't surprise me if you didn't ever even give SC2 a chance.
People are nostalgic and people are butthurt. People are hateful and people are spiteful. I just hope that SC2 will keep flourishing, because why wouldn't you want that?

Well you can continue hoping on what sc2 would be in the future because I gave it a chance and to me the example I gave was perfectly fine and if you don't like that I can give you another one how about if pga decides to extend the hole in every golf courses? Wouldn't that make it more easier for casual ?
Also I don't want to be involve with the hype band wagon that is "support sc2 for e-sport" no thank you I have other commitment in live to follow up and bw dying is a great wake up call for me.

To prove what point? That they are better RTS players?
Who fucking cares? pro BW is still dead, and SC2 is still a shitty game compared to BW, the game it replaced.

If I was nostalgic, I would say that Command & Conquer is the best, because that's what I grew up with. But I'm not nostalgic, BW is just the best real time strategy game that has ever existed. I got in to it in 2009. Please don't tell yourself that the reason people dislike SC2 is because of nostalgia. It's because we think the game, based on its own timeless merits, is a piece of shit compared to Brood War, and it replaced Brood War.

How is my analogy broken , explain.
I use to watch BW way back during July's OSL run and then stopped and came back just a little before sc2. What the hell makes you think that I haven't played sc2? Why on earth would a BW fan not play
1. A game named SC 2. A game made by blizzard
The reason why our opinions differ is analgous to why a person who has only had foriegn pho doesn't understand why someone who has had real pho tell them restaurant pho is a bastardised version of pho. The person who ate foriegn pho thinks the other guy is crazy but the guy who has had real pho just knows better, the real pho guy is probably Vietnamese as well.

It's not just the players, its the game. Fans watched the game long before Savior, iloveoov etc were ripping through the leagues, and fans still watch long after Gorush, Nal_ra, GARIMTO etc retired.
Nostalgia is yearning for the past. The OSL is still on-going and SPL just ended recently. lol
