Holy shit, it's finally here. Awesome. Very nice work Ashur, even managed to get it out in time for Blizzcon like you said.. I'm very, very impressed. I hope the Beta release isn't too buggy, I'm gonna try this first thing tomorrow when I'm back on my own computer.. I've been looking forward to the livestream thing since it was first announced.
Yay yay yay!

ABOUT TIME!! Ima go jack of to this shit. best sexiest stuff that has ever hit the starcraft scene since the invention of the replay.
|
everyone will now be progamer from this

Well, its just old OP3 at the moment, all problems you have post here: http://www.bwprogrammers.com/viewtopic.php?t=108
LRE = Live Replay Engine... This includes mousemoves and screen position. BWTV Observer should read this replays soon, stay tuned...
Server and final broadcasting is not yet supported, i would lie if it do not work, but its still buggy and i dont want to publish unfinished buggy work. For a while, there will be this beta (updatable automatically), and i will try to catch as much bugs as possible..
Dont forget to read manual on GG.net or BWProgrammers. And enjoy.

It does infact work with RWT's (aka PenguinPlug Reps). You said on your website that it works with BNetX Launcher, but I have yet to figure out how. O_O

The launcher works. Not the observer

Well, there is another dialog when in BNet. But yes, its possible, i would reccomend restart of the game when you want to watch replays.

Ashur, I'd like to watch replays from 1.09, but my 1.09.exe isent showing up in bwlauncher, do you have one, I could use?

It won't load for me, I just click run bw 1.13e and the Launcher do not open my BW, and then starts to eat memory like termits eat wood.

On some computers its not working. Im currently getting closer to fix this problem.
|
i've read all questions here and on bwprogrammers, i think i have different problem:
-bwlaucher pops error: d3d9.dll not found (i think maybe it's something about directx?) -no plugins on listbox -sc 1.13e runs correctly
i've tried reinstalling everything many times, also tried bwl 2.261, tried cut-paste some dlls on backup directory leaving only bwaddin.dll, bwtvobserver.dll, riched20.dll, storm.dll and smackw32.dll.
gonna try installing directx updates...that may be it...

It's a program that turns replays into First Person VOD's when you watch them, also later for a small fee, you will beable to stream live games to watch.

If the programs it not free, it wont be free for the ones streaming, not for the observers. Well thats what i understood out of articles
|
OMFG I JUST JIZZED MYSELF READING THIS POST! ^^ <3 <3

thanks alot
|
|
Ack. I'm doing something wrong....
I downloaded everything expanded it, put the files into my directory, load up the launcher, check that I want the observer to start, tell it to run 800 mode, hit "run 1.13!" or whatever, bw starts, but then I open a replay and nothing happens...not multiplayer or single player. What am I doing wrong?
|
Errr... does extracting to starcraft directory mean putting it in the starcraft folder (character, maps, etc...) Sorry I don't know much about this kind of thing :/
|
yeah C:/program files/starcraft/ the directory that you installed starcraft into
|
thanks million that's what i've been looking for

I should install bw again and check this stuff out. Awsome work man =)

that happened to me too because it automatically selected "load penguinplug" while i had an old version of penguinplug in the same folder. it didn't let me deselect that feature (ashur, bug! ^^) so i just deleted pp and then it worked.

I can't really use it, it says 'this version only version support 1.13b but an other patch has been detected. If Blizzard just patched, you have to play without penguinplug until it's updated (visit http://ste.gnux.info/pp). Press retry if you want to continue but it will most likely crash.
+ it says I don't have the cd in, while I do :p
|
For me it says it doesn't recognize the file type dll... I've always been able to use them... they're not an extension like rar so I don't know why it won't work
Edit: I mean I put the 4 thingies in the starcraft directory then I click one... and I get the "cannot find program to open this" error.

uncheck penguin plug in the launcher or update penguin plug?! at least i think it is a prob of penguin plug not bwtv...

Uncheck screen interpolating in configuration.

Ok... thanks for you help. But I still can't get it to work. Here's what I did: I put all the things (6 I think) in my starcraft folder (you know the place with "maps" "characters" etc). I load up the launcher and click configure and click the three boxes and 800-600. I delete penguin plug from my starcraft folder. I dowload the update if there is one. I restart the launcher and click load at start and then run 1.13e... then my computer hums and broodwar come on the screen as an unopenable tab and eventually the launcher quits and I can try again. What's my prob? I don't mess with that install thing on the top. Should I?

So I took the disk out and put it in again and did retry, and it works. ( i have to do that everytime)
What i would do in your situation is take your bw cd out. click run on bwloader and when it trys to load the game it will give you the no cd window. Then put the cd in and click retry.
The reason i think this might work is because i believe there is a problem with the way the program executes bw, but consequently, the only way to inject the .dll is to start with bw loader so this is the best answer i can think of. Hope this helps!^^
ps, I have PP and it runs fine for me. I was watching a replay with it on and the text on too;)

Tried it. Same problem. ;_; One thing I noticed is none of the other bottom buttons (patch 1.12 etc) are able to be clicked... does that mean I did something wrong?
I'm going to try to redownload and install one more time...
Then I'll kill myself.

I've got pretty much the same exact problem. Only DLL files in my folder are the necessary SC/BW files and the ones to run BWTV itself. Don't have PP. Install.exe is in my SC directory. Do all the things it says and have tried everything suggested here.
My computer just tries hard to run it. BWLauncher minimizes to the system tray and BW comes up [as -_- said] as an unopenable tab. Then BW closes itself and nothing else happens. Not even an error message. ;_;

geez, ive had so many problems trying to make this work...and my friends have too. finally, i realized i should try with a physical cd and not Daemon Tools and after fiddling around with the Install Path button and restarting bwlauncher it worked. now i just have to figure out why it's not working on everyone else's computer that i know...

no it doesn't, but ashur did say that it just doesn't work on some comps right now and he doesnt know what the problem is:/ To me most of these problems seem to be related to Direct Draw issues. Ok, so I got bwlauncher to work without trying anything but I'm still having problems.
I have it checked to start the bwobserver but If I load starcraft WITH penguin plug checked, it will come up, but it wont load in 800x600 and the bwobserver doesnt work. If i load starcraft WITHOUT penguinp lug checked, it makes a noise (like the ping noise in windows) and then starcraft appears in my start-bar for like 2 seconds and disappears and does nothing-_-
what am I doing wrong?
EDIT: I'm horribly frustrated right now, but I would like to extend a HUGE thank-you to ashur for all the work he has done :D
EDIT2: I'm on windows 2000, i dont remember but I think it may have mattered with the origional op3 does anyone remember?

.rar files are just another way to zip things. Download WinRar from the site and then u can extract the actual program to your sc folder.
|
It is launched using BWLauncher.exe (v2) and loads with StarCraft. BWTV analyzes a replay file, each command, and simulates it in a StarCraft client - in any speed, just like a normal replay. The observer, watching the game with BWTV, sees units and the game play almost as if he'd been sitting next to the player's screen ("first person mode"), except for the mouse which unfortunately is not saved in the replay file. I thought this was one of the key features? No more of this interpolated click selection crap that just guestimates where the view likely was, but actual mouse coordinate capture data. Is this not true? Is the main feature of this now the ability to connect to a replay server and watch it live/on a delay?
|
Yeah really, where is the actual mouse?
|
Can somebody give more detailed instructions on how to run this?
|
the actual mouse isnt saved in replays, just whenever the mouse does something.
|
Ashur is the man ! respect !! btw good luck in school ;]
|
Okay.. I am further along in this process... but now I have the options of "run 1.09d" or "run 1.10"
|
Um Are there certain System reqs? Because I do everything the instructions say and I keep getting the option to send an error report
|
Okay... now I have everything the way it should be... except when I load click "run 1.13e!" it starts to load and then closes BW
|
i click BWTV beta and check start on log and a mark next to BWTV changes from (O) to (X)... what is this? and i can't get it work.. i get error saying something like "unable to initialize D3D" not work or something T.T
|
not working for me either
the luncher doesnt work if "load on start" is checked
|
Load on start is checked for me, and it works.
|
Load on start should be on...If not the program is not started and u will have yhe usual SC screen. With this plugin you should see two bars on the right and on the botom of your usual screen, which in a replay display statistics of the players.

It would be able to work for live games as well, not just replays. Also if you view the information stored in the replay file, things like screen bookmarks (F2-F4) and mouse cursor movement are not saved. If the replay stored cursor information, the size of the replay would be enormous. Think about it, you nudge your mouse far more often than you perform a click or action, and in the cases of progamers whose APMs are 400 and beyond, replays would easily reach into the tens of megabytes =]

And heres an interview translated by FireBlast in response to his 'comeback' victory;
+ Show Spoiler +Every Starcraft fan cheered as everyone's favourite veteran Zerg played a great game of ZvT to beat Midas with a refreshing performance. -It was a sweet victory. It was hard practicing especially because the map is difficult for Zerg. However I knew I’d find plenty of solutions if I played enough. Previously the opponents came well prepared when I played using strategies that are widely used so I decided to try and play my own game. I used a build order that isn’t so readily used on that map to try and win this tricky fixture. -You were bunker rushed early on. It is easy to bunker rush on this map so it’s one of the first things I practiced against, although when he did in fact try it I found myself thinking “what the hell?” because by the time I saw it the bunker was near completion. If the opponent was in a horizontal or a diagonal position to me I would have found it, it was very bad luck. And so the bunker was complete (laughs) So I thought up the best counter. I made sure his reinforcements couldn’t reach the bunker and killed it when zerglings arrived. It wasn’t a completely unexpected form of bunker rush so I fought it off. It helped that I practiced so much against this strategy. -By now you must be used to bunker rushes. Before every game I sit down and think whether or not the opponent is in a position to try it (laughs). I don’t hate it. I just need to be more diligent with my play. From now on I will improve my game so I wouldn’t lose to any surprise strategies like bunker rushes. -Was it a split second decision to use stacked lurkers? It’s very inconvenient to use ground units on this map so most players prefer the mutalisk tech. However from the beginning I knew I could win if I pressured him enough to be able to move the lurkers up. I had it in mind all throughout the game. If I played defensively I might’ve been in trouble but I was at an advantage once I killed his initial army with zerglings. -You have regained your confidence. As I mentioned in the group drawing, I’ve decided to be a lot stronger mentally this year. I want to take my play style to its limits. My desire to win is greater than ever before. I want to reach the very summit. I’ve managed to top the rankings amongst our team and gained a lot of confidence from that. I feel I’ve learnt how to win again. -Did you feel any pressure going into the match? I was felt a lot of pressure. I know my situation very well, this is my first game for some time andI had also lost my games in special event games. To make matters worse all my teammates were winning, and I even read an article that it was down to me to carry on a winning streak for KTF. Having read that I was more determined than before and I felt a certain responsibility not to lose. -Recently you backed down from your position as captain? I've mixed feelings about it. I wanted to lead the team to many wins and trophies but then I suffered in my individual performances. I’m disappointed I don’t have many successes to my name as a team captain. However at the same time I feel the burden has been lifted and it’s refreshing. -Your goal this season? To at least get a seed. Rather than set a goal I just don’t want to let myself down. Even if I fail I want to give a performance that won’t leave any regrets this season. -Translated from FiFo-

It would be able to work for live games as well, not just replays. Also if you view the information stored in the replay file, things like screen bookmarks (F2-F4) and mouse cursor movement are not saved. If the replay stored cursor information, the size of the replay would be enormous. Think about it, you nudge your mouse far more often than you perform a click or action, and in the cases of progamers whose APMs are 400 and beyond, replays would easily reach into the tens of megabytes =] I know this information isnt normally stored in a replay. But i thought BWTV had the ability to capture it and add it to the replay, the same way penguin can capture text and so forth, which are not normally part of the replay. They just append it to the end or something and the starcraft engine doesnt mind the extra data.
