Japan was the center of MMA 10 years ago with all the money in it. But when the US folks got interrsted, the opportunities shifted to the US and thus Japan became irrelevant. The same is happening right now with SC. The BW market and thus the interest of Korean coproartion to fund teams is fading, while the funding for Western tournaments is on the rise. Kespa knows: If you miss the wave there will be no second one coming. you realize that all the reasons u had for BW 2 become less and less relevant is actually because eSports becomes less and less relevant in korea? so SC2 wont help there either and was hardly the reason for it.

you can't have dts and hts in the same building in sc2. it would be utterly imbalanced, especially vs terran you totally got the point. grats.

It goes both ways. Japanese lost interest in MMA too, while it was on the rise in the US. Thus the UFC had more money and all the stars came over to the US while the Japanese lost even more interest with less and less stars.
It does not make sense for a worldwide active Korean corporation to put millions into a small and fading Korean market when you could have even more exposure to your world wide customers. If I were the CEO of Samsung, I would fund SC2 instead of BW: More people, more money to make, SC2 is on the rise=sexy=young=interesting=adjectives you want your brand to be associated with.

this comparation is great and true. MMA in Japan was always popular, it wasn't dead or anything but UFC had more money just because it became a worlwide thing. Matches were all around the world. PRIDE had them only in Japan (familiar to something?). More people started to watch UFC (+ US market is bigger than JP market) and more fighters started to switch over. PRIDE died because it wanted to stay in the past.
PRIDE and UFC are similar, you have to fighters and you have same weights, but some of the rules are different and cage is different to ring so stars from PRIDE weren't so dominate in UFC.
Same thing is with BW and SC2. Those games are similar but they aren't same, SC2 is worldwide thing, BW is Korea thing. Even when there was no SC2, BW was relevant in Korea only and Koreans attendet only 2-3 events per year outside of it. BW can't be changed anymore, Korea is too far from foreigners, but in SC2 there is a chance for everyone because approch is different, SC2 is global thing and people in e-spot had 10 years to learn from competitive BW.

It's all based on assumptions, and biased opinions, therefore rendering the whole debate invalid. And that's been the case for well more than a year now.

Lots more pictures of Bisu, Fantasy, and Jaedong on fomos.

Also, you'd think that since they're at the happiest place on earth (disneyland), Jangbi would smile a little more. y so srs face all the time.

PRIDE died in Japan because of shady business practices and alleged ties with the Yakuza. There was no denying that UFC was getting bigger and would have eclipsed PRIDE in no time but PRIDE could have sustained itself with their Japanese stars and some random scary looking "foreigners".
But they were losing money, while the revelation about the ties with the Yakuza had them get cut out from TV stations. Thats why it failed.
In regards to SC2, without a TV deal I find it hard to believe SC2 having sustainable growth beyond right now. And I dont know, if I was GOM I would still be mad at KESPA for shutting down the GOMtv BW league and have them eat alof of crow for it.

Just tell flash that missile turrets are better in SC2 and he'll switch in a heartbeat.

Shit, we don't even have In N Out east of the Rocky Mountains
I miss living in California.

Jaedong with no muta stacking and defiler micro - he would lose his edge over other A or even B teamers in BW if they also decided to switch to SC2.

yes, because jaedong solely won 3 osl's and 2 msl's just abusing mutalisks and defilers.

I quite distinctly remember that some lings were involved too. Smart larva management too. Sniff.

For Jaedong, it'd be a huge risk, but he doesn't have a team and Nada's said a top-level Zerg would dominate SC2 in a way a top level Terran or Toss wouldn't. Even then, though, he'd be giving up a near-certain shot at 6 figures for a maybe chance at 6 figures, which is kind of a weak play.
That's interesting, why would a zerg dominate more than a terran/protoss?

clearly he had bad mechanics and was a terrible player in general, other than mutalisks... >_> anyways a monster like jaedong or flash would be awesome to see in SC2, would be nice to see how well they fare against the other players.

Well, the fact that the best SC2 players are "bad" in broodwar standards probably contributes a bit to the fact that SC2 is unimpressive. A player like JD playing SC2 would be interesting in the way that he would be kind of player capable on finding new edges on his opponents, making the game more interesting.
That said I'd rather have him play BW :<
