Well, then thats it, we won't be seeing Jaedong playing SC2 for at least 7 more years, or even not seeing him playing SC2 at all

I like SCBW more than SC2 (currently and perhaps forever), but he will be moving to SC2 soon. All the teams dying, and that one league being canceled, no team league probably. All that leads to a mass influx of SCBW players coming soon. It is unfortunate I don't know what killed SCBW cuz SC2 sure hasn't done it.

Wait. What indication is there that BW is going to die O.o? The teams that disbanded aren't major corporations, and the richer teams are pouring in more money. It's a more centralized movement where the ones that cannot compete are weeded out.
MBC Game channel switching to music broadcast is a pretty big blow, but no team league...? How did you come to that conclusion? Most of the players outside of the disbanded teams have already renegotiated with their teams.

While it could survive it seems like most people are cutting eventual possible losses. Why it will probably die... 1. Even though the teams that disbanded weren't that great they're still no longer around which will make Team League kind of dull with no "underdog" to root for. 2. The broadcasting company that is looking to toss out one of the major leagues destroys an individual league. 3. Contracts expiring for many of the "rookie" players who all could come over and pick up an EASY GSL win or they could stick around and lose to Flash/JD 4. If these companies are teams are quitting they must know something we don't.
With team league dead and players most likely going to switch over the game will probably die and soon, unfortunate as it may be the worlds best gamers will be forced to play the worlds worst remake of a excellent game. Hopefully blizz doesn't fuckup HOTS.

There is zero indication of proleague dying. Calm down.

BW will live as long as the sponsors are there. I think it has two more years or so. Basically once GOM's contract is up and SC2 starts appearing on television, the game becomes more advanced, etc we'll see an inevitable transition.
The game is more than a decade old, it's not going to last forever or much longer. It's had an amazing run and is still producing amazing games, but all good things come to an end.

1. an 8-team PL is still very viable and would possibly be even more competitive 2. the MSL could be taken over by a different channel, or BW could work with one individual league + PL (not great but what can ya do, and it would make the OSL even more prestigious) 3. where the heck did you get this idea 4. if KT, a gigantic company, is willing to give Flash a billion dollars a year (slight hyperbole for effect) there must be some viability in BW, no?
so in short please don't talk about stuff you obviously know very little about

Who's to say there will be any transition? I think chances are equally likely that televised starcraft is just phased out in Korea... SC2 just doesn't have the appeal or the presence in Korea from what I understand. Either way BW is no where near dying and it's getting old listening to these doomsayers.

While MBC is shutting down their BW broadcasting division, the fate of the MSL is still uncertain. I'd wait around for any news before completely writing it off as being destroyed. And there has been no indication of any BW progamers switching over to SC2 at this time.

1. ACE is the ultimate underdog team, being dead last in every single season but full of lovable players past their prime.
2. MBC isn't tossing out their league. They're changing the whole channel altogether.
3. How many relevant player in his prime is playing SC2 right now? MVP was pretty much the only legitimate A teamer, and even he was a "lol woongjin terran". I don't think rookies moving on is an indication of BW dying... they're rookies who have not built a name for themselves and don't really have decent followings.
4. Yes. Like not having a good enough team to make the playoffs. 10 teams, 6 went to the playoffs, all of them are thriving and some of their spendings have actually gone up. ACE is there since it's the airforce. The 3 others that failed were disbanded.
FOX pretty much pulled out from Esports altogether, so it's not BW exclusive. MBC went down with the channel conversion, which was again, not exclusive to BW, since it's a gaming channel. Hwaseung was the only one pulling exclusively out of Brood War. Even last year, OGN was affected by the betting scandal so that half their team disappeared, and Estro was basically some sort of broadcast licensing company that no longer had decent revenue.
There's a difference between bleeding and dying. One involves immediate first-aid, the other one involves a miracle.
