I just want to say this is wrong. Flash said something like 5 years but jaedong said this "It could be tomorrow, it could be a couple of years who knows". He doesn't know when he will switch so I am guessing if he can't get a salary he is happy with or something else happens he will switch to sc2. I still would be sad if he moved to sc2, and want him to at the same time. I just hope news of something comes soon I am so curious what team he is joining or what his plan is! I think his parents are quite keen for him to go to college. That coupled with the fact that there are no salaries yet (at least in korea), means if he somehow retires from BW (T_T) we might not see him in SC2.

I would really be sad if JD retires from BW... I want him to win another SL...

On the plus side, since SC2 is easier JD can easily go to school and play on the side like Polt and Nada does.

I'll be honest, I totally wouldn't mind JD switching and coming to MLGs so I can get some sexy autographed swag. Would prefer him finding a good team to pay his salary until he decides to switch on his own though, I don't want it to be a forced out of BW thing. Hopefully we hear some good news on the whole 3 teams disbanding situation soon. Unfortunately all I've heard lately are teams moving out of the houses. ._.;

if JD switched to SC2 I might actually start watching it. He would OWN them all

Yeah it really sucks honestly. I am hating all the bad news for BW

I think JD is the most likely to go to Starcraft 2 of all the top players, I think Flash would move on from progaming, and excel in another area.

He would get similar results. Not dominate, but not not fail out either. SC2 being easier or harder is totally off topic discussion, so all I will say is I think it all how you approach it with your expectations and standards. In certain respects it is easier, in others it is harder. Its a different game.

wait where did this sc2 talk come from

It's the fate of all BW uncertainty threads.

Instead of being defensive, you could have said that it started on page 2 when Jaedong was seen hanging out at oGs house. Plus the uncertainty of currently not being on a team or having a salary, plus past comments about not being against switching to SC2 and desiring to expand his fanbase into the foreign scene.
There are plenty of cases of SC2-fanboys trolling BW threads, but this isn't one of them. SC2 has a relatively legitimate place in this thread. Also, perhaps it is just me, but a lot of BW-fanboys seem to be hypersensitive and almost looking for a fight before one even shows up.

So don't try to start the fucking fight and post sc2 stuff in bw thread where noone want too see it. That's it.

Yeah I'm sure meeting up with former OZ-members during off-season means a lot regarding JD's future. I'm also sure any chicken restaurant or online hardware store is willing to pay 200k a year for JD's salary

Seriously are we complaining about people suggesting that he may switch to sc2? It's certainly a possibility. Who would compete with him in that game once he puts in the time to understand the game? Maybe mvp? Maybe nestea? And that's about it, gom has a huge price pool every month and eg could probably give him the salary he wants
On another note, personally, I'd like to see the big bw names stick it out till the end, realistically bw doesn't have much more than 1-2 years before the scene will collapse in korea. Given how much he made and the fact that that's even more money in s. korea, I could see him retire from gaming, go to school and just, you know, chill for a bit.

i too am awaiting this news. ill be very surprised if it isnt STX that get him in the end just because of the money thay have.

10 pages of speculations and BW vs SC2 arguments and not a single person in here thinks Jaedong has enough money to do whatever he pleases? :p He's had a starplayer salary for years (which is really good in comparison to other professions).
Jaedong has always been known as the guy who practices an absurd amount and I am doubtful that he would have any problems breaking into the SC2 scene and making tons of money if thats what he would want to do. I think Jaedong switching to SC2 would be very good for the SC2 scene as right now almost every team has a "free training schedule" which means they practice as much or little as they want with no real structure, I think Jaedong and his practice routines would bring more pressure on the teams overall and maybe give SC2 the "skillboost" that it needs.
However since his parents has been wanting him to go to college since 2009 that's a huge possibility aswell.
Anyways my heart would want to see another sponsor picking up atleast the OZ team and keeping the JD/OZ legacy going in BW.

I agree with ryo , If you guys bent on trashing on jaedong about him going to dota 2 or what ever game out there please go bring your business to some where else .

One thing that everybody is forgetting is that switching to sc2 has both pros and cons. I'll go over some of the pros and cons of both games for Jaedong
Staying in BW Pros -Huge Salary -Fame (bigger fanbase, bigger audience, more media attention) -Jaedong is already one of the best players in bw, switching to a brand new game will set him back a few months (or maybe just a few weeks it depends how fast he can adapt to a new game) -SCBW is a 'finished' game and players don't need to worry about Blizzard messing up their timings, playstyle, strategies, etc. -Strict Training elevates the skill of the players so quickly(although this can also be a con)
Staying in BW Cons -Strict Training means little freedom to travel, have a gf, play other games, go out with friends frequently, etc. -Training leaves NO room for University and anything else related to personal development OUTSIDE of BW -BW is a dying game(and yes I know that 20% of high school kids watched the proleague finals, and that BW is still really popular, but with all these teams disbanding and MBC turning into a Korean MTV, who knows if bw will be around for 2 more years), this means that if Jaedong has passion for gaming and would like to coach after, SCBW will not give him the financial security to do so(IN THE LONG TERM).
Moving to SCII Pros -Freedom to play whenever you want, this allows players to play at the competitive level while still having a gf, going to university, among other things. (This is probably THE biggest pro that SCII brings to the table) -A bigger international fanbase and the possibility to travel around the world while still playing Starcraft. Jaedong has mentioned that he wants to expand his international fan base and SCII has so many world tournaments that would all want to see Jaedong play, not to mention all the western hemisphere Jaedong fanboys that want to see the Dong face to face and get his autograph (probably won't happen in BW ever again now that BW is out of WCG) -A more prominent game in the future. The game hasn't even had an expansion yet, and we are promised at least 2 more expansions so the game could potentially have 8 years of life left (if not more, who knows when Blizzard will come out with SC3) This will also allow Jaedong to pursue a financially secure coach position in a few years if he doesn't make it as a player.
Moving to SCII Cons -Jaedong will take a HUUUUGEEE salary cut -Jaedong would have to learn and practice a brand new game -SCII is not a consistent game in regards to balance, and it's not entirely up to the players to revolutionize the metgame because Blizzard can do so with one small patch -Jaedong would be criticized by the BW community as well as the media -No strict guidelines on training can slow down Jaedong's climb to the top (although realistically, I couldn't see Jaedong struggling to always find someone to practice with)
