Hey guys,
Since PoP is quite busy nowadays, I thought I would update PoP's amazing thread.
So, let's look at some of the stats! Stats Specification
- Uses all Brood War games up to the end of SPL Round 4, ending at 3/26/2011 (So first day of WL Playoffs)
- Only Standard games -- no offline games.
Here's something to get started.
Overall Number of Games and Win %
- 2261 TvTs (1143 Individual League, 1118 Team League)
- 1295 PvPs (633 Individual League, 762 Team League)
- 2466 ZvZs (1400 Individual League, 1066 Team League)
- 5019 TvZs (2709 T Wins, 53.97%)
- Individual League: 3433 TvZs, (1847 T Wins, 53.81%)
- Team League: 1586 TvZs, (862 T Wins, 54.35%)
- 3650 ZvPs (1973 Z Wins, 54.05%)
- Individual League: 2281 ZvPs, (1253 Z Wins, 54.93%)
- Team League: 1369 ZvPs, (720 Z Wins, 52.59%)
- 3755 PvTs (1929 P Wins, 51.37%)
- Individual League: 2294 PvTs, (1187 P Wins, 51.74%)
- Team League: 1461 PvTs, (742 P Wins, 50.78%)
Number of Active Progamers, by Year and Race
- "Active" is defined by "lost a game within that year". So if a progamer was active but did not lose a game within the year then he isn't counted.
- 2011 is omitted.

Old version defined by "Won a game within that year" + Show Spoiler +
Legend of Fall? You decide.
- Non Offline games of Individual Leagues from 1999 ~ 2011 Bacchus
- Month = Month of the Year

I'll keep updating with stats and graphs whenever I get time :O
Feel free to request. If you're going to ask for specific event before and afters, give me the date. If you want stats from a specific league, link me to TLPD's page in the league.
For some maps stats, let's keep them at this thread

Let me know. It shouldn't be too hard to crunch ;o

this is interesting but it only shows what everyone already knows. terran slightly favored over zerg and zerg slightly favored over protoss.

Compare for instance the amount of tvz wins in finals. this is true, imo, for zvp too (with the big exception of Bisu lol)

Good thing that isn't the purpose of this thread, eh? Updated with some individual league statistics. Sorry didn't want to sound negative! This is awesome. I really liked the graph that showed the % over the year. I was shocked by the differences between the months.

very interesting information. thanks milkis

Thanks for the info! It's really interesting to see how TvZ is the most played matchup! Same with PvP being the least, I guess this has to do with lower amounts of Protoss Progamers?

Cause 2011 hasn't ended yet. Note that by using a full year, i go across two seasons, in which rosters change and such. Also, lack of numbers of OSL preliminaries for random bad progamers to win their games.

but it looks like it covers 2010 as well. there seems to be a big downtrend.

You only think it is huge because of the 2011 datapoint
I'm going to update the graphs with only up to 2010 cause of naysayers like you :O
|
so only a slight downtrend, not as big as it looked in the larger chart

Didn't 2010 have 2 seasons of winners league? WL has a strong bias towards the good players appearing multiple times. Proleague lets us see more players (which leads to more active progamers according to Milkis' method of measuring), while Winner's League has Flash 4 times in a row. I suspect that contributes a lot to the effect.

I like how the win percent for zerg and protoss are always like the exact opposite of each other xD

Yawn.
Updated with Average age of active progamers.

Seems terrans havent made generation shift yet - but zergs have. This is worrying because the main way to control zerg infestation is for a solid growth of new terrans to exist. Yet that hasnt happened - hence the situation in league ratings remains troublesome.
