It's also my first map which has been retouched and tweeked for a long time. A long while back I also asked for pointers on the forums to improve just this map. The map is a two player map with two entrances to the main base set in the hated ice tileset. The thought behind the map was to cater for aggressive play from beginning to end with choice of distances and the sheer amount of control you can attain by taking the middle. The terrain and pathways also open for sneaky tactics which might resemble a bifrost game. Edit: I play random mostly btw Edit: Updated the map to fix a slight mining inequality problem. | ||

Download: Melee Version Observer Version I play on East under the name boongee. I've been playing Starcraft for about a year, and I've been making maps since...the first few days I got it. When I was bored of playing campaign or getting my ass kicked on b.net, I would make some sort of crappy map. My maps have evolved over time into what you see here. I have never been in any sort of map contest. Update - I changed the map name to Technetium when I discovered that there is a blizzard made map named Space Debris. Pure coincidence. o_O | ||

I'm Phantom[xz], I've always made maps, but I have never submitted them to any contests, this is my latest work in an attempt to make a balanced Island Map. I play Protoss and have tried playing Zerg for a while with no luck. This map to me is very unique as each base starts with 2 accessible gas expoes. The only problem is if you are neighbouring someone in a 1:1 they can ledge 1 out of 2 of your gas expoes early in the game. 4 out of 8 of the gas expoes can be ledged by all races, while the other 4 can be taken by tanks easier, toss need to upgrade dragon range, and zerg needs lurkers. I have also tried to include large areas for drops and flanks. One interesting scenario for this map I imagine would be a 2:2 where team 1 is pos. 9,3 and team 2 is in pos. 12,6. P.S. This is Orion 4. It is a heavily edited version of the map I submitted to the wgt map contest, I don't know if I'm aloud to submit this because no one answered my question in the first news post, so I originally created the map because I wanted a sexy looking symmetrical space map. Every change I've made in the past few months has been for balance. The version I submitted to wgt had some major problems with the horizontal positions, and terran had no chance to wall vs toss. In this version I also widened the side paths and narrowed the middle slightly. Its called Interregnum, and its a four player melee map with a min only natural and gas natural separated by a high cliff, with ramps leading to the main from both. Four islands, one at the center of each side of the map. My aka is oO)PeReZoSo) on west and iNCuBuS_iU on east. Ive been making maps, mostly ums then when I stopped UMSing I moved over to melee maps, and Ive got about 10 or so under my belt. A little bit introduction of my map, my concept is to make a simple map that put some touch of the famous LT or Dahlia of Jungle concept. This is a revised Chain Lightning map in Webmaps. Chain Lightning is one of my favorite maps a longlong time ago before im in to BNet. So a little bit revisions on this map to balanced 3 races and made some similarities to LT or Dahlia of Jungle. The map is for four players, each main camp have a easily accesed and be guarded nat expo. The main camp have a choke point and easily guarded by tanks,canons or sunks. Terran obviously seem in control in the map,as we always think so if theres a ramp good for tank to pos. But Zerg also unto this map because of the positioning of the nat expos and other expos-sleek entrance for a good pos of sunks. Toss on the otherhand also have edge in here having a plain battleground for easy mass of goons and toss units..2 islands expos located each side. Race: Random/all race user Experince: Ive made 2 maps before this, one was used in a big tour and many people liked it allot The map: (2)Hyper Circle, A nice 2 player map,not fully balanced but good enough for people to see its potential. The tileset i choosed was twilight because I had never before made map in that format, and I also thinks its a nice tileset to play on. I belive the map has many aspects when it comes to strategy and buildorders meaning i belive my map offers the players many kinds of way to approach it and destroy his opponent. Race: Terran Map: Twist of Death This map probably took me the longest of any map yet....its an incredibly fun map for about any matchup. I think its kinda a mix of a lot of the ladder maps...none show in particular. Thanks and enjoy. Please comment. Race: All races (Best is Terran) Map: (4) Frozen Friction This is the first 4-person map I have ever made and the first mapping contest I have entered. I chose to make an map on the Ice Tileset was because it is my favorite and the coolest to look at in my opinion. This is a four corner map with 2 naturals near each base and 2 small areas to mine up on the plateau. This map is balanced on each part which will allow for the fairest play possible between the races. Also all the cliffs will allow for alot of dropping. Nobodys Faith (I like linkin park so what :O?) I wanted to make a bifrost replica and I also had Silent vortex in mind when I started making this map. I have never used it for anything.. just showed some friends and they seemed to like it. (2)StraightAndNarrow with Obs (2)StraightAndNarrow Melee This is my tribute to a C&C Tiberian Dawn map with the same name and it has in the (limited) testing proven to provide a good balanced (As far as I know) fighting gound. I may make a complete C&C map-pack for SC later.... Plz let me know about any imbalances. Anyway, on b.net Im 99% of the time on Europe mostly as TS-iDrone. race: zerg map making experience: I've always been interested in the map editor. I've made numerous UMS and about a dozen melee maps. This is the first map I've ever submitted into any competition of sorts. The other maps have been to play on amongst friends, although i never showed a couple of them because they didnt turn out they way i had wanted. I've made maps without gas at main, depleted gas nodes and so on. This is one such map. The minerals in front of the second gas both have 600 minerals to mine. The open gas has 1500 gas before it depletes and the closed one has 4000. In case you're wondering, I didn't make the map symmetrical on purpose, as I believe that unless your map looks like blade storm, then you're killing its appearance. Additionally, if the map is symmetrical, it lacks positional quirks which make every game different and more enjoyable. I made sure there was no major differences between positions though. Map: (4)Vega 1.9 http://www.freewebs.com/esx/vega19.SCM updated to 1.9 (a few new doodads added, but nothing major, so im still calling it 1.9) This is (4)Vega v1.9. A Symmetrical map in space titleset, since space gives the most opportunities in high and low ground, and it is also compatible with both sc and bw. the minerals is as balanced as i could without ruining the symetrical feeling of the map. Only the 1nat of pos 4 has a gas with can require some depot or so to correct it.. but if anyone has a better idea for the gas placement, plz tell me. anyways, a fun map bot for 1v1 and 2v2. Been tested from 1.0 and currently is updated to 1.9. If anyone is interested in playing or sharing maps, please msg me on battle.net (europe) | ||

Other relevant self-introduction: Member of THP and other stuff related to mapmaking that nobody have heard of. Made a shitload of maps, I play zerg. And the map name: Jet.Pilot from the SOAD song. 2) A brief description: tileset is badlands, theme is well it's sopposed to be an eight and two ways to get to the middle but the pathing got fucked so I left the map untuch for maybe a year or so. Fixed some nice colors and stuff, didnt bother to make a OB version yet. Otherwise, I've done a lot of maps for StarCraft and BroodWar, 40+ at least, and consider myself to be some what "experienced" in mapping. Good? Gee, I don't know hehe. (Check www.dazonic.com if you want to see 21 of them) 2) Map name: Naxius Station I've used the space platform tileset and as you can see, the map is very balanced and symmetrical. It's a good map for usage of dropships and air units. The "History" behind this map takes part on the remote world of Bhekar Ro is beeing torn appart by the three races in a struggle for a Xel'Naga temple, however the war ends by the destruction of the temple and everything seemes to go back to normal. That history is better described in the Blizzard novel, Shadow of the Xel'Naga. However now its fourteen years later and something is still hidden beneath its dunes. Prologue Octavia had counted each year, though she felt like it was yesturday it had passed fourteen years. Everyday during the first years she had felt that they would return and the horror would begin once again... But they only horror that came was the ones that she told the children that was born after the incident. Sensing something nearby she cleared her mind from the daydreaming and she grasped her gauss rifle that she had salvaged from a dead marine. Something was out there. Is anyone there, she shouted. A rock rattled and started falling down the slope. Her thoughts were racing, she had seen those horrible beasts unburrow next to marines back then. She didnt hesitate and raised her rifle to open fire. She wasnt even halfway when she heard a voice inside her head, -Stop dont shoot. Followed by, -Its me Xerana. The dark templar suddenly became visible to her eyesight and was on its path down the slope. Her old friend looked exactly the same as before and Octavia suddenly became very aware of her own mortality. Xerana didnt give her time for any second thoughts and said, -I didnt come here for no reason, there are troubling times ahead. Apperetly the Xel'Naga temple that was destroyd was only the tip of an iceberg. There is a new Terran goverment and they have little respect for old Dominion I fear they wont trouble themself with saving you. However we the dark templar has also suffered much by fellow kin and we would like your tribe to seek shelter with us. Octavia made a grim smile, -I know Terrans cant be trusted. Nick's West, cg.greven Eu, VDP]TRAVIN Im a random player, though I was zerg until a few weeks ago. My map making experience started about 3 years ago and I have made about 40 melee maps. I only have one important rule about my maps, when I have made a map I ask myself "would this be a funny map to play lots of games on" if not i delete the map or edit it till I feel comforteble. The pic speaks for itself. in 1vs1 u have to scout to see if your opponent is on you side of the map, if not there will be an island map fight. 2vs2 is really fun on this map! Map Updated again! I have erased some cliffs, added some doodads and made it a bit more open. The naturals now have only 900 min and 3000 and I also put some more minerals on the center gasexpansion to make the centre of the map more important. -Mongolia Download link | ||

B.net ID: Binky1842 on west My main influence was one of Nostalgia's features that had the cliff leading into the main or leading to the middle for the expansion. I used that idea, and modified it a bit to where there are 3 main parts to the feature, instead of the 2. I started this 1 day before this contest was offical and have worked on it since then, except for 3 days. The one thing I'm not happy about is the middle. I changed it many times, but it never seemed to fit with the rest of the map, so I decided to shrug it off. Any suggestions for it are 100% welcome.
