Announcing BW Nostalgia #2 to be held on Sunday, Feb 20 6:15pm GMT (GMT+00:00)! I'll be livestreaming games that my brother (Wizard) and I played in 2001 and 2002. These games are against such top players as Day[9], Tasteless, Froz, Whear, Ret, etc from various events and practice matches of the time. Opening Games:
For this event, I plan to open with the following four games:
The first two will be games against Mr. Turtles (aka Pills) - one of the best ZvP players of this time frame in my opinion. Always near the very top of the CompUSA ladder, his play really best shows how ZvP was played at that specific time.
The next one is an unusual choice of someone almost no one here would know - SupaMerc. This player generally hung out around the 100-200 range of the CompUSA ladder and never actually placed highly in any major tournament. So - why cast one of these? He had his own style that was fairly unique at the time and it also shows some of the mid-tier level of play that existed then.
The final opening match will be against the legendary Rekrul. No further information should be needed.
Middle Games (aka "the meat"):
I plan to follow a similar format to that of last time for this section. The games I broadcast will be determined by poll voting that are posted as the event is going on. I plan to do one or two replays that are not from my collection. I've found and downloaded the replay pack from WCG 2002 Grand Finals - held a few months after the most recent replay that I have. This will show a bit more of how the game was progressing, and will allow me to talk more about the USA talent at the time. Why the focus on USA players? Lastly, I plan to end on 1-3 games of myself against my younger brother. These games range in maps and contain possibly the oldest reply's I have from this time. One would also expect this to be a PvP fest - but it actually isn't as we knew each other's styles so well we could often off-race to abuse timing windows that we knew would exist.
