I remember when this aired on Norwegian TV! My parents actually started to respect my gaming a lot more when they saw that you could make a career out of it.

THE fastest player if I'm not mistaken. He started the whole APM trend iirc.
I saw this documentary again recently before It was bumped.
Out of curiosity What was his apm actually?
I watched a lot of his replays back in the day, and he usually hovered around 220-240. He was way ahead of his time, both in mechanics and build orders. A truly talented guy.
Bumping this because I had a bit of a nostalgia bug and found this on YouTube. Unfortunately no subtitles though.
IMO, Slayer was definitely up there with Nada in terms of talent. Even Grrrr... said he was the best foreigner when he came for the KBK tournament in 2000. Who knows what could have happened if he ended up getting into an international school in Seoul while balancing progaming.
EDIT: Also apparently I had another account but I must've forgotten the password to it.
australia where i lived was literally third world internet back in the early 2000s. i didn't get the ability to acquire a dsl connection until 2005-2006ish.
Below are some transcripts of interviews with Slayer. I stumbled upon them while recently wallowing in the memories of the 2000 era and checking out his Liquipedia page
"Yes, thats right a Dark Archon attack. This is one of those strategies that isn't exactly something you shouldnt already know how to do. But the thing is, people never use it. All you have to do is use the dark templar rush and dont attack with them, summon Dark Archons. You'll need to get the energy and mind control upgrade. As soon as ur Dark Archons are charged and ready to go stick them outside an enemy base. While they are charging, periodically attack the enemy with zealots and dragoons to annoy and lower their defenses. When the Dark Archons are in place, take them inside the enemy base and simply use mind control on either all the most powerful units they have at the time, or thier peons. Using this will enable you to perform either a good sized attack without losing any or your units or starving them by controllig thier peons. The only thing to remember is to have your Dark Archons fully charged before performing this." "Disadvantages: - You could get screwed by going quick technology - Your opponent could kill your Dark Archons before you cast your spells - You mind control ¼ their units, kill the other ¼, and the other half dominates you.
Optimal Outcomes: - You could mind control most of their main units, giving you a major advantage in the battle, thus winning you the game. - You could take over most of their powerful units, leaving your units to have an advantage in the battle.
Realistically: Okay folks, lets get realistic here. Most likely, you'll have a few dragoons / zealots and maybe 2-3 Dark Archons. You'll be feeling all good about yourself, and head straight into the enemy base. You'll probably lose 1-2 of your Dark Archons heading into the battle, along with a few of your militant units. This will leave you with about 1 archon, and a few zealots, not too impressive of an attack, eh? Another thing that will probably happen is that you'll go quick technology, and get rushed. How can you prevent this? Well, the obvious thing, cannons. If you keep a small supply of dragoons / zealots at a choke point with a few cannons, you should be set to go quick technology. But in doing this, you're allowing your opponent to build up. So by the time you send out your attack, they could have a massive force. In order to use this tactic effectively, you'll need to have at least 5 Dark Archons. Since you'll have the technology buildings, it wouldn't hurt to get a reaver or two to help out your attack.
Good luck trying this one out! It could go one of two ways. Let me know how it goes!"
