Vatie : Hi. First up an introduction for the fans... your real name, age and
location? And feel free to tell us a little about yourself outside of
starcraft

Slayer : Fredrik Oestervold, I'm 17 years old and I currently live in Bergen,
Norway. When I'm not playing Starcraft I usually do stuff like play
football, watch movies etc. I played football for about 10 years before I
suffered a knee injury which is when I started playing Starcraft
competetively.
Vatie : You are believed by many to be the greatest player on the planet ... an
instant question that pops to mind is how do you deal with this pressure?
Slayer : I don't really feel any pressure except for maybe offline tournaments,
where alot of people will be watching you play and expect alot from you.
I've seen so many people who can be really good in practice games, then
play horrible in tournaments because of this. I'm lucky since this hardly
affects my play at all.
Vatie : What would you call your greatest achievement in SC ? Talk us a little
through it.
Slayer : My greatest achievement is definately when I won the KBK 2000 tournament.
It's one of the biggest tournaments in Korea and just about every skilled
player in the world competed. They gave out free trips to Korea if you were
placed top32 in the end of their ladder season. I was #2, so a month or so
later I went to Korea together with a TV crew that recorded the event for
norwegian TV

Vatie : When did you first start playing the game ? Also which other RTS'es did
you play before SC?
Slayer : I started playing alot later than most of the other people. I got it around
1.03, but didn't really play seriously untill BW came out. I had been
playing Red Alert for a while before I got Starcraft, but I got tired of
it, and Starcraft was a better game.
Vatie : Races. Balance. Your views on this ? Any particular matchups that you
prefer?
Slayer : Personally I like Zerg vs Protoss and Terran vs Zerg. I do think that Zerg
is the best race on just about every map that has an easy accessable
expansion. On Lost Temple they have an obvious advantage even though Terran
will win a good deal of games.
Vatie : Korea ... the promised land ... Tell us about your experiences playing over there.
Slayer : I've only been to Korea once, and it made a huge impression on me.
Everything from the 10,000 'PC Bangs' you can find everywhere in the
streets, to the strange food you get at restaurants

tournament in a huge game room called the Mega Web Station, impressive to
say the least. They had monitors inside and outside showing the games, and
a bunch of cameras inside filming the competition for korean TV, just like
any other sport.
Vatie : Which players would you say you have the most respect for and why?
Slayer : The people who used to be and currently are in the aBs clan, which is a
norwegian clan I have been in for like 3 years, I also have alot of respect
for the people in GG. I've met all of them real life and I like spending
time with them~~
Vatie : The Lost Temple debate. Many players are of the opinion that it is well
perhaps just a bit overplayed? :p What is your take on this?
Slayer : I play it alot myself. It's a good map but not as fair as everyone might
think. Zerg is the best race here and I'm happy other maps are being played
in tournaments like Game-Q. Also the positions are too important. For
example a terran from 3 will be alot harder to beat than from 6.
Vatie : Any other games that you enjoy playing?
Slayer : I played Diablo2 for a while, but after I finished it on normal there was
no point playing anymore. The only other game I play right now is
Elastomania, which can be found here at http://www.elastomania.com. I
suggest you all go download it

Vatie : Also im curious to know regards your opinion on the future of RTS.
Warcraft3 in particular ... do you see it as becoming the next major
tournament title?
Slayer : Warcraft3 will definately be huge, since it will bring all RTS players from
games like RA2, SC and AoE together to play one game at the same time. I
talked to Grrrr... about this and he thinks pro gamers can actually be
millionaires playing this game.
Vatie : And finally, any advice for those up and coming players? What is it
that you do? eat lotsof jungle oats? :p
Slayer : yes..jungle oats is definately the way to go --V also it wouldn't hurt to
practice a bit either~
Vatie : ok thats the lot, thanks for your time =]
Slayer : cya
