I have had to recently re-install StarCraft Brood War onto my computer, as I was forced to install Vista. However, since this time, I cannot save replays. I go through the motions of saving them, clicking save replay, and titling it, but when I go through the folders to get it (Starcraft -> Maps -> replays), it is not there. I jsut RECENTLY had the replay folder even show up, and still, no replays in it.
I tried using the search function, but could not find anything. It could also be that it's 1:00 am here and I'm veeeery tired from trying to figure this out.
But still, if anyone has had this problem, or knows how to fix it, help would be greatly appreciated.

did you try running it as an admin?

Yes, I am also running it as an admin... Or at least the checkbox has been checked in "Properties".... or should I right click on the icon every time I open the game, and select it each time?
Just a note... never had this problem with XP -_-

If you're not running as an admin files written to the programs directory are redirected by a shim. They then should show up at: C:\Users\<YourName>\AppData\Local\VirtualStore

Unfortunately, this filepath does not exist. The furthest I can go is C:\Users\My Name\.... there is no AppData folder. And using the search function for my files does not work. Its as though these things don't even exist
Edit: Just for further information, I noticed that my secondary harddrive was not formatted correctly, and have since formatted it. However, this is not the drive my game is installed to. As well, I just played a game, and attempted to save the replay. No replay was saved, but the "LastReplay.sc" file appears in the replay folder.

make sure the option to view hidden folders & files is checked

Would that affect the abilityto open the fileon repdepot? Haha this seems so obvious that it might be it. I'll check it out when I get home.
Edit: why would the saved replays be hidden and not the last replay file, or do you mean the data app folder or whatever it's called?

I have the same problem, I'm using xp though. I was really sad when my first game of the season wasn't saved, it was an hour long zvp on match point which ended in a draw. Now it will only live in my heart instead of my replay folder ;;

Yeah AppData is initially hidden on most computers, enable hidden folders.

Yes, of course I meant that DataApp thingy. Sorry for the misunderstanding. That type of folder is usually hidden if I recall correctly.

Sorry for bringing up this post from forever ago, but I just got around to checking the replay folder, and the DataApp folder thingy... (Starcraft 2 came out and distracted me)...
The only thing in DataApp are StarCraft2 files.... battle.net caches and stuff....

Some folders in the chain C:\Users\<YourName>\AppData\Local\VirtualStore are hidden and/or system, so they might not show up in your filemanager. First check if the replays show up in SC after saving. If they show up then they must be there, put perhaps only in a hidden folder

Okay. I found the folder. Is it as simple as copying and pasting the folder to its normal location, or is there some backward way to getting the files to where they should be?
|
You can just copy paste to move them, but that won't redirect where they save by default.

And how do I redirect where the files are being saved to?
