So I've just been getting back into starcraft, sort of practicing for SC2. I used to play B.net back in the day, but now I'm trying to get some play time on iccup, but because there is no Chaos Launcher for OSX, I always just get banned the second I enter a game. Some people hate on macs cus they are sucky for gamers, but how can that be true when I can run starcraft? And thats all I really need anyway. . .

yeah but you can't play on iccup. so, no point of using OS X for BW. and virtual machines are awful for games... you better dual boot with windows xp using boot camp.
Part of the inhumanity of the computer is that, once it is competently programmed and working smoothly, it is completely honest.

There is currently no way to get antihack on a MAC and I doubt there will ever be.
You make it sound like there's a correlation between what should happen and what actually happens. I mean, life is chaotic and it's often unfair. I know it is for me.

Unfortunately there's no way to get antihack on Mac OS X, though hopefully with Valve releasing all their games for OS X the platform will get some more attention.

Though, Apple seriously needs to make an option to turn off mouse acceleration. That annoys me every time I use OS X now.

Porting to osx is too much work and too few people benefit. You'd need a programmer experienced with osx including dll injection, reversing SC and other low level topics. The antihack is written delphi, which does not exist for osx, so you need to port it to freepascal too. And the programmer needs to be trusted by icc, which is probably the biggest problem.
So either use bootcamp, or get somebody to improve wine for osx so it works with SC and the antihack.

Its super easy to set up Iccup in OSX, but there is no way to antihack. What would be awesome was if there was some mac-only server out there, or some friendly D players who didnt mind.

I've suggested before, that someone simply makes a lan latency program for mac and iccup count that as AH. I would imagine that this'd be fairly simple, although I wouldn't know. An AH is not necessary since there have never been hacks made for mac sc and with sc2 around the corner, i doubt anyone would start.

Macs are for 80 year olds that use jitterbugs, if you even think you might want to play a game then don't get one.

Not if it's SC. BootCamp fixes that easily, if you want all that extra stuff anyway.

I play 2v2 iccup on a mac, and some people will leave the game if they see you have no ah, but it seems like a lot of people don't care, at least in my experience.

Having AH in 2v2 is less common, in 1v1 99% of players will kick you.

Just to corroborate on some people have already said...

I don't mind playing against people with no AH if I know I am much better (i.e. even if they hack, I'd still probably win), but as I close in on my real rank and grind points to move up, I get cautious and stop playing against those with no AH.

you can use any mouse with a mac, i may be one of the only people who do use the original one button one that comes with a mac. basically, there's a command button on either side of the spacebar, holding that + click = right click. been doing it that way since i was 8 lol, guess i'm just used to it.

For the OP, yeah i know what you mean no Lan Latency sucks, i'd suggest creating your own games on iccup as you'll usually get banned from games others have made. at least thats what i do if you're having trouble setting up ICCup in the first place it's super easy go look on the forums at iccup.com

I use a logitech mouse too, works great. In fact it had a build in preference pane, which kind of rocks. I'm looking for D level mac practice homres out there if anyone was interested. PM me ->

What most people don't know is that the one-button mouse is actually context sensitive, so you can right click with it.

Add it to the endless list of things people don't know about Macs. Ignorance is bliss, leave them with the "LOL U MAC NO GAMEZ 4 U!"

Terminal: defaults write .GlobalPreferences com.apple.mouse.scaling -1
Then relog.

Or just use USB Overdrive or one of the other third party utilities to turn it off. No worse than having to edit the registry in Windows really, it's just less well known.

Microsoft actually makes pretty good mice; I consider Windows just the drivers for the mouse.
