Before the times of The Maestro, Zerg cerebrates had no ruler, leader, nor god. The three kings ruled over the mighty Protoss. The Terran Bonjwas dominated the scene. The Zerg had their fair share of victories, thanks to their evolutionary traits, but never did one individual have the ability to lead them all to glory. Lesser leaders attempted to rise up and fill the gap, but never was there one single entity that could control and direct the Zerg to success. The swarm was suppressed; held back. Then, The Maestro, their Savior, arrived.
Overcoming any and all foes who dared to enter his path, The Maestro obliterated all competition. Destroying everyone he faced for an entire year, there was no question as to which race was on top. There was no question as to which man was on top of his race. Yet, the Protoss struck back, and the Revolutionist defeated the Savior of the Zerg.
The fall of The Maestro signalled a dark age in the swarm. Protoss executors learned the ways of fast expansion, crushing the swarm's opposition for over a year. Against the human race, the Zergs could not find any foothold to climb up from and they were defeated as thoroughly as they were before. Zergs fell left and right to both of the other races.
Then, came the era of Zerg dominance. In 2009, the Zergs learned to macro, and to match the play of their adversaries. Vaporizing any and every wall and obstacle put against them, the Zerg swarm destroyed all opposition and once again claimed their right at the top. 2009 was the year of the Hivemind, and they’re not done yet.
The Reincarnation
Effort
The Maestro, Reborn.
The fall of The Maestro dealt a hard blow to the Zerg race as a whole. However, in the end, it mattered not and as with any and all Zerg, he was soon reborn into the world as Kim Jung Woo. His abilities, rather than diminished, were reinvigorated. Even as his foes fall to his might, they cannot help but be amazed the ferocity of their adversary. The Maestro once fell within CJ Entus, and brought the land down with him. His rebirth restores their once lost status at the top. The Maestro's reincarnation, is to be feared.
King of Queens
Zero
Prince of Queens is not enough.
For much of the year, Kim Myung Woon was the supporting pillar of the land of Woongjin. Precise and perfect troop control baffling his enemies, and his solid and constant troop production letting him hold his own in each and every battle. In the period of little evolution within the Zerg swarm, he developed his own unique tactic to further the use of an underused yet deadly creature, eventually unleashing it upon the Revolutionist who initially felled the entire Zerg race. In a stunning victory, he defeated the one who the old Maestro could not, proving himself to the world that he was a deadly force.
Systematized Pandemonium
Calm
A new champion.
The success of Kim Yoon Hwan is mindboggling. Starting out as a relative unknown, he soon showed his mastery over all strategy and tactics, delivering devastating blows to each and every opponent he faced. His plans are set-up carefully and solutions to difficult situations are already predetermined in each and every stage of the battle. Kim Yoon Hwan, whether being assailed by Protoss assassins or Terran mercenaries, takes every enemy apart, piece by piece, and soon became the unwavering head of the STX ship.
And the greatest of all. The one who led them to salvation. The Sovereign. The God. The Tyrant.
The Overmind
Jaedong
Lee Jae Dong’s birth into the swarm occurred in early 2006. Until late 2007, he was hailed as a great young talent within the swarm, but his skill against Protoss foes was not up to par, and so was held as a lower class leader, until facing the famed Dinosaur. The rest, as they say, is history. Winning again and again, never faltering once. If a foe defeated him in one arena, he’d come back and obliterate him the next three times they met. Even after being beat down into the ground, he’d stand back up and fight to rule again. Despite being challenged and dethroned by the Terran's Ultimate Weapon, he shall rise up and conquer in the end. Thus, is the story of The Overmind. He is the Zerg, and will lead the swarm to victory in 2010. The Zerg are coming. The Zerg Swarm:
oh god, who's going to lead victory after victory? probably stork at this point. dunno if bisu's actually gonna get mentioned considering how he's been playing.
Stork/Violet/Movie/Kal is my guess. bisu/jangbi/best will belong soon though...

jangbi stork movie BISU
Entaro Templar, executor.
The protoss one will never work, because there is no clear leader like JD or Flash. Bisu isn't clearly the best, nor is stork. Who knows, movie might be better than both of them, his unpolished play has so much power.
Jaedong! That guy never gives up and always brings his best to every game! And for that reason I endorse any thread that purposely downplays Bisu, for his "Lolwut?" attitude leads to many disappointing losses.

If there's anyone leading/representing the Protoss race right now it's Movie. Kal is also doing really well, they are both really fun to watch (and do quite well of course). Kal is more up-and-coming but I have high hopes for him.
Stork and Bisu...I don't know...they need to change their mentality.
protoss doesnt seem to have a definite leader in the way that zerg and terran do.
bisu and stork are probably the most likely candidates. there's only 4 to choose from. who would they be? there are many decent protosses (ten dragons), but none dominant like jaedong or flash.
If the Protoss one is made, they must all be compiled, or at lest linked together, that would be sick; a historic collection to commemorate this era of BW, so later generations will know we were here!

Impossible. The Terran one is biased.
Indeed, they purposely excluded any SKT1 terran materials inputting on that OP as if they NEVER EXISTED in the first place....
Yeah? I don't think these articles are intended to be all that objective though. I mean, if the Terran one started from The Emperor (basically the roots of developed progaming industry in Korea), why doesn't this one mention July or Yellow?
right.. this is all good and everything but why is there no picture of sAviOr at the start? Also.. I thought Calm back in like 2006 or 2007-> evveryone thought that he was going to be like one of the best players but nothing ever happened until 2009? I could be totally wrong though lol

Nice writeup but fast expanding was pretty standard even before Savior reached his peak. If you by "ways of fast expansion" mean that the protosses got better at fast expanding and learned how to follow up a lot better then I agree.

I think Bisu popularized the forge first fast expansion?
no.. i think it was Nal_rA... They were doing forge fast expand ->+1 speedlot rushes long before Bisu I know that. 3hatch muta>+1speedlot rush 3hatch muta<bisu build
I felt that Kwanro wasn't as important in todays scene compared to Zero and Effort. Just a personal opinion.
Oh, and I was going to mention July and Yellow in the article too, but they never really led the Zerg. Yellow was always in second, and July had his own way of playing that only he could do.

Oh god did you really just quote that ten dragons thread? Guemchi is not a dragon!
Before the times of The Maestro, Zerg cerebrates had no ruler, leader, nor god.
julyzerg was the god of war..
Nickname.
July never really led the Zerg since he had his own playstyle with his extremely high apm.
true, but you shouldn't discount his fucken epicness. golden mouse hello! I also think he was one of the first people that started using 3 hatch spire into 5 hatch hydra, andro game vs best.

julyzerg was the god of war..
The Storm Zerg single handedly saved the Zerg race from oblivion.
chojja and ggplay existed too
oh and gorush
Yellow rose to his height in the worst possible time for zergs before chojja, when gorush wasn't making starleague runs, before ggplay and long before july.
Being a zerg fan in 2001-2002 was really hard =( we lost alot.

true, but july is the one that finally gave us zerg fans a starleague tittle in the name of the swarm!
