I played an opponent of relatively same skill I think. I know there are lots of mistakes at my end. I am just learning how to play the game (coming from Warcraft 3). As you'll see there's tons of macro to be learned.

Can someone advise me on what is the better race to play out with Protoss or Zerg. I have attached my replays for the same and any tips that you notice that I am really bad and have to work on would be much appreciated.

Protoss is the easiest starting race. It's not "the best" or "overpowered," but almost everyone agrees that certain things make it much easier to play than the other two when you're just starting.

pick your race based on preference, not which one is "easier" to play.

more importantly, pick it based on match ups, go through each race's match ups and see which ones you like

for example i stopped playing as T because i absolutely loathe TvT. i dont like playing zerg because I feel ZvT is slightly imbalanced. so now I play P. admittedly, it's mostly because they're the only race with a mirror match up that I find somewhat interesting and fun to play (compared to TvT and ZvZ)

To OP: Go with what suits you best. Think about it as you play; which set of units do you feel the most comfortable controlling and with which race do you get the most satisfaction after a victory (and conversely the most insight after a loss). What usually happens to me is I play one race, win some, then go on a losing streak prompting me to switch races; rinse and repeat. But... don't be like me. It's not a good habit.

Well, since this is a game, just choose the race you enjoy playing the most. What's more satisfying, all the protoss spells, the potency of the terran ball, or the swarming of zerglings?

protoss is probably most like your warcraft 3 races, with big expensive units with high HP and some "hero" types like reavers or arbiters

i dont know if its really that important to pick a race so early? I started out with Z but now i'm playing more about the matchups than a race. Like i enjoy ZvP/ZvT, but PvZ and PvP is also fun (i suck at T). And to get good at a race you will have to play the other races to get a better understanding of timings anyways.

TL;DR maybe just play for the matchup and decide on a race later

well protoss is just mainly, k getting better economy and rolling u.
zerg is mainly, k taking a lot of bases, making sure i don't die, rolling u with mass ultraling at end.
ORRRR k, gonna slowly take bases, gonna pwn ur units with muta micro and good lurker ling flanks.gonna upgrade and completely pwn u when i get defilers out.

Unless you plan on becoming a pro gamer, there's absolutely no reason not to play both races, as long as you find that more enjoyable.

Thanks for the advice. I tend to watch more of Protoss and cheer for them, so I think ill play with them first and then see how things go with other matchups later on.

Toss is easier as I find it requires less micro (at a scrub D/D+ level). As a toss you usually just macro up and try to get good position before attacking. Storm is really the only spell you use. As a zerg you need to micro to dodge storms, hop lurkers, use defilers against terran, micro scourge. Keep in mind, I'm not covering everything and this is just the basics.

Nonetheless, zerg is just more fun imo! Nothing feels better than seeing cracklings destroy a protoss base or lurkers killing an army of m&ms. Just find the one you like to play more.

What's your APM?

Protoss has the smallest APM requirement out of all 3 races. Zerg requires at least 200 I would say, to be good.

I personally did through the story mode. Also, pay attention to how you feel when you play each race. Each race has a feel to it, a different kind of flow. If you can find that out, you will not need to ask anyone. Or you can just race pick.

Pick whichever race you're the most comfortable with; you can always switch later. If you find you just can't get the hang of Z macro, pick P. If you don't like having to 9p0p then force-gather every ten seconds (and if you don't like jumping around the keyboard for hotkeys), pick Z. If you don't like lurker burrow lag. If you suck at storming, or you think templar are too slow, pick Z. Yes, you're going to have to deal with all of these problems eventually, but it's probably better to have to deal with less problems in the start.

Or better yet, pick both.
