Just rest a lot, drink enough, blah blah blah and you should be fine. Also, be glad you're getting all 4 taken out at once. I only got 2 taken out and I have to go back to get the other 2 removed...

I think my oral surgeon is providing me this bottled water where it allows me to squirt water around the socket to avoid crap getting into it and avoiding infections. Besides that, he is giving me vicodin of course. He also gave me 4 pills of halium (2 the night before and the other 2 I should take 1 hour before the operation) to calm my nerves... anyone had to take this? Does it really calm you down?

Depends on how well you take care of the extraction site (ie: not moving your jaw too much, changing the gauze carefully), but I hardly bled at all after 24 hours. Does it really calm you down? I never heard of this option. I got NOS. I don't really recommend it. Insurance only covered a small portion of the cost. The first time I got it, there was some mild benefit. It has a relaxing effect and although it doesn't exactly kill pain, it makes you wholly unafraid of it. Difficult to explain if you haven't experienced it. That said, the effects were very subtle and I'm sure I'd have been fine without it. Second time (I got my right and left sides done seperately, not sure why it was recommended) they over-gassed me and it was pretty terrible. Felt like I had a brutal hangover for a couple hours afterwards. So in summary: NOS = mild benefit or major discomfort; I'd skip it. If your local anaethetic is properly administered you shouldn't feel a damn thing.

And god damn these puffy chipmunk cheeks. They're entirely swollen up right now and it's a pain in the ass. Although I can actually eat now, which is nice. I feel like if everything goes right, the first day will be painful, but afterwards you should be fine as long as you take the proper procedures to take care of yourself.

If I need eight teeth removed I better be getting some better painkillers because when I was in pain for 4 days during the infection taking 6 vicodin in an hour didn't do anything, surprisingly I have this neo-hippie roommate who forced an insane amount of vitamin A on me, needless to say it worked for the pain, fever and swelling but by no means a substitute for the overall removal.

When are you supposed to pull em out? cause I haven't yet ![]() It depends on the person because it grows differently for some. Both my dentist and oral surgeon said that it is usually best to get it taken out around 17 - early to mid 20's. If you get it out at an older age it becomes harder because the tooth will be hardened by then.

Although I had trouble getting back into normal foods until about a week later, guess it depends on the person. Same here, I actually had 4 wisdom teeth taken out plus 2 of the ones right before the molars on the upper row (make room for other teeth, aligners). Didn't hurt at all, just a bit sore the first day. Took some tylenol, but it didn't really help lol. Next day I was fine. I couldn't eat much, only soft foods like cottage cheese, apple sauce, but after a couple days, I could chew regular foods, albeit very slowly, with my front teeth (pain in the ass lol).
