The real problem is if you actually start believing what they say. It fucks up a person when they actually believe all the stupid stuff parents do is for their own good and its even worse when the lectures that are basically an hour of you being told you're worthless start getting to you.
It pisses me off to no end when parents demand something NOW, rather than in 5 minutes.
