Though the chance is so remote that the odds of it happening are slim. I wonder if Venus and Earth did collide I wonder which Planet would remain intact, or if both would break apart or simply be obliterated. And after that what would the affect on Mars be?
Venus -- Mass: (4.868 5 × 1024 kg) -- Volume: (9.38 × 1011 km³)
Earth -- Mass: (5.9736 × 1024 kg) -- Volume: (1.0832073 × 1012 km3)
Poll: What planet would remain? (Vote): Earth (Vote): Venus (Vote): Neither

I sure as hell don't want Earth to lose.
|
Pretty sure anything even approaching a collision would annihilate our atmosphere in any case.
On another note, I'm surprised to hear that Earth has less mass than a US Navy aircraft carrier. Those things really are scary

Lol, I guess it's supposed to be 10^21?

If you look at earth and venus you pretty much see that they're just eggs... Only the crust is solid
SO....
gg both

There is no Reach in any other planet. Therefore we auto-win any interplanetary competition.
|
Earth would kick Venus' ass.
|
Venus might be too massive, but it's possible a collision would result in what happened when Earth collided with a ~mars sized body 4 billion years ago which melted the Earth down to 1000 km or so, kicked out a lot of debris and volatile elements in the Earth which solidified to become the Moon, and the iron core of the body sank into Earth's core.
Either way if it happens we're fucked. We should preemptively strike Venus and Mars right now. Always afraid of destroying Earth with our nuclear arsenal, well let's save Earth with our nuclear arsenal from communist planets who want to share our orbit.
|
But I wonder if both planets were obliterated what would happen with Mars and all the left over debris?

sigh sensationalist reporting of science

just have me stand at the point of impact with my fist outstretched
i will deliver a mighty blow to venus with the entire might of the earth behind me

what about the part where it happens in 3.5 BILLION YEARS
|
Masses that close? No way any planet remains.
They'd both be gone.

i will deliver a mighty blow to venus with the entire might of the earth behind me I will be on the opposite side of earth from the impact zone cheering you on! Or better yet, I'll be in a safe spot in space watching a feeble man die from the tremendous heat of a raging Venus before it even touches him. GG
