I have noticed that when I burn DVD's, it goes at a really, really slow rate. At 16x, it burnt a 4Gb DVD in 90 minutes or slow, which I know shouldn't happen. I checked if DMA was enabled and it was. I checked in both Device Manager and the BIOS. I updated the firmware and it didn't change anything. The specs for this computer are a 1.8GHz Pentium 4 and 1GB of RAM, which means I don't think it's the specifications of the computer causing it. Help?  | ||

Also, how old are we talking here? It's a long-shot, but if the HDD is old it may not have the write speed for 16x. Although if it's that old I doubt DVDs were even around then. | ||

The files I'm burning are from my External HD, but I didn't have this problem when on my other computer. | ||

Newer USB connections are compatible with older ones, but will have to match the speed of the older technology. But yeah, it'd probably be best to copy everything to the internal HDD, and just remove it when you're done. | ||
