Mages are the race that is typically easy to level with early on, but in the end sucks. The scrolls and such have little effect on them as well. Around level 50 or so they can kill and move far slower than an assassin of the same level, whose DPS is higher and he also has haste. A spearman / Dragon Knight is also really good later on as soon as you get a nicely scrolled(+10) outfit and a well-scrolled spear. The options for maximizing are also a lot better for other races. Mages are okay, but they level the slowest and have to rely on their party a lot most of the time. Mage is the easiest and the weakest race, pretty much. Thief is probably the most cost-efficient race by far. | ||

And yeah you pretty much got to get to a high level, but in the end it's just a waste of time. After you quit you just wasted a lot of your time. Also, you barely even type while playing Starcraft. There's barely any time to type anything in the middle of a game and when you do type to communicate with a teammate in a 2v2 game you have to type with such haste that proper spelling almost never occurs. | ||

Agreed, its pretty much exactly what you said. I don't know whats the phenomenon with Maplestory that draws so many people into such a shitty "game" (I don't even really consider it a game). Personally I think its due to majority of teenagers that likes to chit chat with fake "drama" (you know the kind that is about/and result in nothing) along with slow RPG like character progression. Even though Maplestory is such a terrible game I have to say props to Nexon knowing what the majority of teenagers want and taking advantage of the situation. | ||

I don't sit there and chat with anyone. I just game. Im not the only one either. Almost every single korean on the server is just mass gaming, with no chat in between. | ||

After a few months, my friends stopped playing and started saying, "lol, maplestory is gay" Just stop before you waste too much time in it. And if you want a decent MMO, get Guild Wars. It's the only MMO I'll ever recommend, because you can play casually and still get a great experience from it. | ||

Then a few years ago my friend and I were like ok let's waste our entire winter break (since neither of us were doing anything >_> ) and try to get to 70 in those 2 weeks I made it to 66 | ||

 after ms, i never turned to a mmorpg for entertainment again (D2 doesn't count :p). the quests are like grinding, because you have to kill monsters over and over to get the item they drop or w/e. the other quests are so shitty, you have to run all over the place. overall the quests don't add any good content to the game as you barely get and exp from it. you just do the important ones for the scrolls. | ||

Kill a slime, you're level 30! Job advancement! Kill a few more monsters! 3rd job! Do some quests, kill a few more high level monsters, 4th job! Kill boss monsters, reborn, repeat. And watch yourself do 1 million damage. | ||

To be honest, I found the first 40-50 levels really fun. The game itself kinda got boring for me around level 20-30, but some of the people you meet can be pretty awesome, and if you have friends to play with when you're online, it's not much work playing at all. I joined a guild around level 30, and throughout like two years, I got to know all the members and eventually became the leader when the guild was shut down. I'm not really sure how I even got that far, I remember whining every level since like 80~ about how long it took to level. The only thing that kept me hooked to this game was the people I met, many of whom I still keep in touch with via messengers. So MapleStory as a game was probably one of the most annoying / grindy / boring games I've ever played, but if you can find a good guild / people to be friends with, it becomes a lot more fun. | ||

When I quit I had a Lv80-something ranger on Kradia, and a Lv120-something dark knight on bellocan. (Named "Reach" lol) GL, when I played on Bera, Broa was regarded as the "hacker server." I don't think that's true anymore though. | ||
