Hey guys, i had a similar experience to the op, but instead of praying to god, i prayed to the Flying Spaghetti Monster, and he answered my prayers! I know I might seem crazy, but I really believe in him, and after that day, I have started to believe in him more and more. Please just try to understand me. I gave the Flying Spaghetti Monster one chance to show me he was real, and he did, he fucking did.

dude, science is great but, when it comes to religion, all you have to do is believe.
But the problem here is, who do you believe? Instead of a higher being, "except Flying Spaghetti Monster, "because he is real," I BELIEVE IN MYSELF, and if something needs to get done, like getting a girl to talk to me, i fucking make it happen myself, but if its something like curing cancer i leave that to the Flying Spaghetti Monster.

Probably because the Abrahamic religions are all fucked up, idk, beats me. The bible was written over a long period of time by numerous authors, so that may have created some disparity. Even beyond all that, the bible is a fucking old piece of text, and even history texts and old science texts are often inaccurate or incorrect a lot of the time.

For what reasons people choose to believe in something doesn't concern me as long as they keep it personal and are able to respect their own beliefs while also respecting different beliefs that others may have.

Probably everyone grows up being religious, because kids are easily manipulated and will believe everything easily, but most people wake up when they reach their 10s or 20s. When they start questioning themselves, the world, when they start to think for themselves.

What is God? Is God some external being that exists somewhere far away in space and is viewing the world somehow? Does he exist in heaven (where is heaven though in space?)? Is God some kind of essence that resides within our bodies? Is God just an idea created by our minds in order to help make us feel as though we have a purpose and place in this world and that someone is watching over us?


Like it matters... religious people have changed their view of god often in order to further delude themselves even when we gain new insights about the world.
Long ago, people imagined god as being a person in the sky somewhere, on clouds or something, because they didn't have the means to study the sky or fly... so there was room for god up there. Humans didn't know what was up there, so of course it was perfect for imagining that god was up there, fit well into the "heaven" theme, into the "watches us" theme (must be from somewhere up high right?) etc...
Now that we can do all that, that the sky is not off limits anymore, of course the view of god has shifted to some kind of invisible energy form that is all around us, instead of being a "person" which is watching from somewhere far up high.
As we gain new insights from science, god will always be pushed out of many areas and religious people will instead move him into those areas yet unknown where we can't really explain yet, where there's still a place for god. The fact that this is even happening should make you wake up, that it's ridiculous to continue to believe that a god exists, but oh well...

just because something cannot be proven, does not in any way shape or form, dictate that the probability of it being proven is anywhere near 50% so using your train of thought, with this correction, and the knowledge that we are all ignorant to some degree, he has a 10% chance of being ignorant, and you have a 90% chance.
