It's sad to hear something like this coming out from a fellow wower.
To make a PvP video, try using xFire. And i don't understand why you would need a group for PvP? You can always do world pvp, battlegrounds or just run into an ally town and start whacking every shit. You didn't mention about your level and i can't judge why you need a group. But well, i never do pvp if i'm not at max level or; if i'm not geared in pvp gears. There are always disadvantages in WoW if you're un-level and un-geared, same for all MMOGS. Don't be anxious about doing PvP when you know you can't win due to other factors.
As for your PvE guild, not sure why you would want to join the best. I normally choose the guild base on the time i'm able to give them. For good guilds, they play alot and everyday you have to be on the game. You probably lost motivation because you seldom log on to mingle with the guildies nor run any dungeons with them? =|
Knowing the stats and specs well is essential to play the game well. But if you are not playing competitively, honestly.. it doesn't matter as long as you have fun.

When WSG came out, when BC came out, and when arenas started were probably the most fun I've ever had playing any video game. I lost interest in PvP because I figured out I'd never be able to make a PvP video with my computer, and at a high level luck and group make-up counted for too much. I lost interest in PvE because I joined the guild that I perceived as being the best in the US, and then I lost motivation and never made really good friends with any guildies. It was also just a shitty time in my life for unrelated reasons.
I thought about getting back into it for WoTLK, but I don't have much time any more and there's so much logistical work in figuring out which classes got which knew talents and skills, and which spec is the best, and which gear is the best for each spec and where it comes from. Blarg.

Take your time and don't rush. Rushing will kill the motivation. The game only starts at 80.

I like fun and laid back guilds. =)
But if i'm playing on a competitive level, i would prefer guilds with extreme commitment.
I'm similar to you now.. playing bit by bit as my work is crazy.. but i'm still loving the game.

Then I took a break right before naxx/AQ then just now came back seriously a month ago. I play on the blackrock server (trans my shaman from deathwing because some friends i know rolled there) and now im in a guild that is pretty open and fun and laid back (no hard core raid times etc) so im just lvling bit by bit since I cannot put too much time in as grad school is demanding. But its fun and I enjoy the new zones (currently lvl 75).

We can't tell if you're really handsome... post up some photos or videos please.. LOL

DnT? Or the other amazing guild that totally owned DnT in every instance of PvP ever and had way smarter/handsomer players? lol :> I should mention that my perception of quality is very heavily influenced by e-fame. :D I'm not exactly sure what guild you're referring to. I didn't often play 5v5, so I have no idea who beat whom. Also, I'm really smart/handsome. So.

I hate the fact that they made the game easy for KIDS.
Hate barrens chat.. hate trade chats... yes there is no challenge unlike pre-bc times..

To be honest WOTLK is ridiculously easy and there's really no challenge to it anymore Already starting to find it boring :/ http://eu.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Frostwhisper&n=Mershann

Quit WoW ages ago (december '07~ and haven't touched my warrior since, I bought WotLK and played Death Knight for like 5 days and quit again LOL never even got to explore the new content...
Back during BC I was in a raiding guild and was off-tank for raids but I wanted to dps as fury because I only find warrior fun in fury spec dual wielding but the guild wouldn't let me rofl.

We made a 2v2 and 3v3 team for fun but definitely not specced for pvp (or geared) whatsoever. I did arena season 1, got my drake and then quit for awhile. Had this char since Nov 2004. And yes, I miss the game pre and expansion. 40 man MC raids, trying to kill Vael in BWL before she despawned after an hour... My guild was best horde side on Bloodscalp for a long time (guild name is DPS), lots of server first. First High Warlord was from my guild too. We used to get together for BBQ's each summer - people flew into NJ from all over the place. Always nice to meet guildies. The whole guild moved to Scilla and we're a bit more casual now - but the game got so easy that I think they still raid and such. Me, I'm there for the acheivements. ^^

Do you mean Dota or W3?

I'm probably about to start playing.
Not till summer though.
I enjoy it, but I can't dedicate enough time to it to be good or join a guild or anything.

I don't even know what titan grip is.. LOL. When I re-installed to play WotLK which never happened I noticed warriors had new talents (dual-wield 2h's etc.) and I wanted to try them but then I got bored and never did.

Are you going to start from scratch? Or do you already have a character on wow? =)
Well, join a casual guild. I'm sure you will be fine.

I enjoy it, but I can't dedicate enough time to it to be good or join a guild or anything. My friend that plays a lot and raids and stuff let me roll a character on his account just to see if I liked it. So like if there was a night where he had a lot of studying to do and I didn't I would just play wow on his comp. Got my character up to lvl 25 in 1-2 hour spurts randomly.
We figured if we send emails to somebody at blizzard and explain the situation to them, they will probably allow me to take over control of the character on my account, since my friend basically advertised the game to me, and now I am going to buy it.
Edit: Anybody in the know think that will work out...or will they just ignore me?

If you want the character, you need to make a new account with the same billing info as your friends and use the character transfer page to transfer to that account. It will cost $25. Just start a new character lvl 25 isn't a big deal

I got a Mage & Priest.
I still play semi-frequently (handful of hours a week, moderately competitive), exclusively for Arena with some friends. Played very competitive in the early seasons (1 & 2 -- top 5 teams) then I realized that game had no right to be a competitive game since it's a constantly changing platform. However, the game is still pretty fun when you're playing it casually with friends.
What ruined the game for me initially was hardcore raiding. You get all serious about it and strapped down, start to feel obligated to attend every raid once you become a key member. Terrible feeling especially if you have any real life responsibilities. I remember pre-BC where we were a cutting edge guild (top 50). It was really stupid to actually change my actual real life schedule around to meet raiding times. Fortunately, I got out of that and the game became much better and more fun after I went casual.

I'm not so sure, I feel there really was no challenge even in Pre-BC times, People often confuse "challenge" with "time worthlessly spent". Rank 14 grind was a really stupid stupid stupid grind, I did it up to Rank 13 (I look back and think what the hell was wrong with me then). 3 month grind 24/7 play time, it was literally very unhealthy.
I think the game is far better now as a casual friendly game then the painful, useless grind-fest it used to be. Spending a greater amount of time doing useless things (many rank 14 players were horrible players; far more hardcore raiders were even worse players) doesn't make it more of a challenge in my opinion.
