So today is the first day of my Spring 09 semester. I woke up as usual, paid for my bus and proceeded to take the train to the university.
But as soon as I got out, there were these two stupid cops asking everyone to show them their pass. To be honest, I did not know that train required you to have one, and I have been doing so for a full year, going in an out, back and forth with no problems.
Well it happens that I forgot my wallet at home and didn't have ANYTHING on me that served as an ID. He asked me for my name, adress, age, etc, but since we moved not long ago, I did not know of my new address, so I gave him one which I think doesn't even exist.
He told me to go to court the 24th and that I had to pay a $150 USD fee, and that this would show on my record.
I got so damn pissed I didn't even look at him in the face and just nodded at his bullshit for the rest of the time he spent on spitting that garbage out of his mouth. I was so damn pissed I took all he gave me and threw it away on the nearest trash can and I hope he saw me doing so.
I'm not a US citizen yet, and I'm literally poor, I have no money, I won't be eating today for serious. I can't pay that shit amount of money atm.
Should I go to court? These dudes don't even know me or where I live, I got no papers.
What would you do??
edit: nvm, misunderstood what was going on.
If you've been taking the train for a year, seems like you owe them some money at least.
Do not pay. Normally i'd say you should, but seeing you have no money, i would condone not paying anything, there are more serious things then have no ticket for the train.
What the fuck? Why do you have to show anything if you payed to ride on public transport?
Yeah and while this dude is writing all this shit on that paper there are a thousand people walking past him that just got out of the metro.
If you gave him your real name and your in the system then throwing the paper in the garbage and not showing up won't fix everything.
Little fyi.
Dog the Bounty Hunter is gonna fuck you up if you don't show
How would they even ever know if you gave them a BS address? Don't go. You paid for the bus ride right? wtf.
And your not a US citizen yet? Should have given him a fake name.
I PAID FOR THE RIDE. Just because I didn't show them my pass they are charging me $150 now? T.T
I can literally eat for three weeks with that money.
Or you could go to court and appeal it. Bring the pass and just explain that you forgot it that day and tell them what you told us. That you rode the bus all the time with no problem and wasn't even aware of needing the pass. Are there signs posted saying you NEED to have the pass to ride the bus? Is that made very well known? You could probably appeal that.
Ehhh so you been free riding the train everyday for a year and today you got caught...?
lol racist cops, milking money from foreigners

They actually have signs all over the place saying you need the pass t.t but no one has ever done that for the past year, even hobos get in the train ez pz.

Hahaha. HAHAHA. Why are all people who get tickets the same? It's always like: "I was doing something clearly illegal. The officer gave me a ticket for this. Fuck him!"

Then you just got owned; bad timing.

yeah chill but what if you along with another couple thousand people have been doing the same thing for exactly 1 year, 6 months, 15 days ?

That's irrelevant though. When you get ticketed for speeding, you will be laughed at if you reply with "hey, but what about all the other tens of hundreds of thousands of people that speed every day that got away with it?". Of course we all skimp out on things but if you get caught while going against regulations by the authority there isn't really much you can do.
