I went outside and checked I did pay for both the bus and train but when the cops caught me they wanted me to show them my ID. There's where things got crazy.

Unrelated, but a few years ago the fine for no ticket was £20, and they didn't always check for tickets (they check more often and have gates now). On off-peak journeys it was more worthwhile to not buy a ticket since it cost about £15 anyway. In the long run you would save money even if you got caught every other time. Yeah, but because of cheeky fuckers who scammed the trains all the time the fine is now like £1000, at least in the London area.

You might be able to get away with a little bit of community service and no fine. I second this. Most tickets have a little mark on the back that says "I did it but here's why I'm not going to pay you" go for that

Although you would think that with not knowing where he lived, and not having any id, he would be able to say whatever name he wanted.

And if you do decide to tell them, I can almost guarantee you one of them has gotten into way worse trouble than anything you've ever done. Ask your parents to tell you some childhood stories sometime. Pretty much everyone does something idiotic at one time or another. Solution: Don't go to Court. Court is for people who have citizenship. You will be asked to show documentation in court, and you don't have it. Hope you aren't awesome and that you didn't give that cop your exact address by fluke memory.
