holy shit. i am raging right now.
i placed an order for an inspiron 1525 at Dell at the end of november, on my birthday.
the expected delivery date posted was on dec 10th. it is now dec 12th. i was expecting it to be delayed, due to holiday season, maybe a set back of about a weeks time. so i made a call to dell just to find out the status of my order, and guess what. they changed the estimated date to the 12th of next month.
i am quite understanding when it comes to delays, but to extend it by a month's time, and NOT offer a reason for the delay is a spike up the ass.
not only that, i finally have a first hand experience as to why people say Dell's customer service sucks balls.
i might just have to cancel it, and go to fs/bb to pick one up for 200 bucks more. FUCK.
what aggravates me is that i can't cancel the order... if i were to buy the same laptop at best buy or future shop, it would be 200 dollars more, money i don't have
it offers the best deal for what i want, but it has the shittiest service... FUCK.
guess i have to wait.
anyways, for those of you who will say that 1525 sucks, it does what i need, it saves me money.

Dell saves you money NOW, not in the long run
edit- seriously, Dell has a bad record of computers breaking down, especially laptops

yeah, i think i read somewhere that their hard drives are only meant to last for about 2 years (just after the warranty expires) so once ur hard drive fails, u buy another computer. I don't like Dell especially their laptops.
I personally use a Lenovo

meh. when the time comes, i'll swap HDs.
or, i'll end up getting something better by then

Yeh Lenovo kicks ass, customer service is nice. My bro called them after his warranty expired since his battery charger was dead and the guy was like, "Sure, send the broken one over and we'll replace it for free."
KICK ASS? lol.
edit: My bro has also been using a Lenovo heavily for four years and I still have yet to see it break down, that thing is a tank.

What are you talking about. Three of my friends have Dell laptops and are still using them now after having them for 2-4 years and they have had no problems at all. They are not just using them at home but also for work.

Dell displays are fucking epic though.
But yeah it takes quite a while to get stuff usually.. :F
On the other hand they have great service imo.

DONE
Seriously, cancel your order and get from newegg. Best prices anywhere and damn good shipping.

sorry to hear, guess it depends on luck/unluck sometimes. I have encountered this problem, and its mostly due to retard employes who misplace stuff or something like that

Dell tech support are like most 24/7 support... a bunch of guys at the bottom of the food chain that don't really know that much about support and are overworked from "omg, where's the power button" questions and assume that you're just another idiot that didn't switch your PSU on and that "k, turn it off, unplug it, turn it back on" will fix everything.
(though they're not as awesome as my old ISP who continues to charge me $0.00 monthly fees)
Dell computers suck... I had a Dell laptop a while back and it ran great for about a year and half... then got ridiculously slow (mind you I did not have Internet at the time) and then out of nowhere it completely died. Everything. Hard drive crashed, irretrievable (unless i pay a lot), etc. The battery life is average. Not very long compared to Mac,Asus, Sony, etc. (even worse than Toshiba, lulz), but STILL not as bad as my HP. Argh, my Compaq Presario is dying but in a slower more dramatic manner.
...but Dell makes great displays/monitors... o wait! That's because they're all BenQ models bought and renamed for the Dell brand!! Ah, no wonder. (I have two monitors the exact same model, one is BenQ and one is Dell, lol)

I'm on an Inspiron 5150 that I've had since 2004, no really significant problems.

ncix.com and click on their specials image link in the main page. They usually outperform newegg.ca

btw I suggest you call Dell and tell them that you plan to cancel your order: a lot of times they will give you a price cut or something to keep you with the order

But all the sad customers can't respond :/

I just think people are exaggerating the problems with Dell computers. All my friends who has a Dell would easily get a second one if their Dell stopped working after 4 years or they needed a new laptop. They are really that pleased with Dell. Also, they all live in Canada.

I ordered a DELL XPS 420 on Black Friday and it arrived the next Wednesday. I absolutely love it.
