I'm pretty serious. As I said earlier, if I had to type gg to Dino playing on a smurf, I'd lose all the pride I ever accumulated through my 10 years in Starcraft. And you don't agree that gg has lost its meaning??? Hell, it doesn't even mean good game nowadays. More so, it means - as Kwark wrote - "you won fair and square - here's your win". How is that gg? It barely even holds any connection to the real term.
On August 19 2008 02:48 Ancestral wrote: gg pretty much means "I lose" and "I acknowledge your loss," it's just the formal way of saying it. It doesn't really mean "I thoroughly enjoyed our duel, it was among the better contests in which I have partaken."
Saying you have some ideological objection to saying gg after you lose to a four pool is laughably absurd. If you beat someone with cheese, and they said gg, would you not say gg because it wasn't really a good game, you just all-ined because you felt it was the best way to win? Would you say "I disagree?"
I would frown. But it's not that it's a cheap win, I was just using it as an example. Many good players 4pool.

how many hackers are there on icc? if for every 1 hacker i gged to i gged to even one normal player who beat me fair and square, i think it's worth it since they deserve it. i'm not going to let the existence of hackers cloud my judgement in how i treat other legit players like myself. also, if gg has evolved to mean what you say, doesn't that make it even easier to type?

I agree, I always say gg when i lose no matter the circumstances the game went through. When people just leave I always whisper them "gg man" and they usually reply with something like "fuck you bitch" or something like calling me a hacker. Really comical.

I think where our opinions differ is that you see ICC as a potentially friendly atmosphere with normal people playing where I rather think of it as a tool for practice. I don't expect people to type anything to me, and I sure as hell don't enjoy people acting all friendly with 'from?' and similiar useless remarks. Anonymous practice games are supposed to stay anonymous. If you want a friendly game with kind people and a nice atmosphere - you play on op tl-west or in similiar channels with people you recognize.

actually, i never respond to chitchat. if you want to sum up my argument in one line, it's that you shouldn't save common manners for only people you know.

Who cares what a chobo like him thinks or is saying, he doesn't even deserve a blog entry about his plain shittiness. Fade into obscurity

That's basically what I got from this story. Actually, He is D and was saying I suck and never would get past D and I was C+ last season.

this brings up the question: who cares? ;p

I don't understand why people wouldn't re someone who is a bm noob. I for one, enjoy getting easy points when I can get them. Also "thanks for your points" seems like an appropriate response.

Yaq, get on vent, lol... gg is like shaking hands after a match in sports. gg nowadays just acknowledges the other player playing better than you, and even if you play like crap you should say gg. After an actual 'good game' I usually discuss the game with them afterwards and they're usually pretty willing to do so, it's fun. Kind of like shaking hands after a starcraft game that was really good and the gg was just for acknowledgements. (the Koreans used to do it if it was a good game...)

SWBK VENT? ITS BROKE.
IT WONT LET ME ON. YOU BROKE IT. I HATE U.

I just played someone on Iccup not 10minutes ago and they left without saying GG. I feel so empty inside ;_;

Suppy, I have to go to work now.

I don't see why some people are getting so worked up with no saying gg. I completely agree with Shauni when he says that leaving a game without saying gg or having someone leave a game without a gg is perfectly ok. If we say gg everygame, what's the point of doing it in the first place? I mean, if I get thoroughly destroyed by someone, I'll type gg to acknowledge that they are far and away the better player, but if you're evenly matched, then what's the point?
You don't even know them and playing iccup versus random people is suppose to be for fun. I don't see how trying to force everyone to say gg fits into that spirit.
Go Shauni! You rock!

Saying gg is just mannered.
Kind of like after a Soccer game players walk in a line and shake the other teams hands. It just shows manner, there isn't like a really great reason to do it, but if one of the players in another team from Soccer didn't line up to shake hands it really makes him look like a douche compared to the rest of his teammates who are exchanging hand shakes.

i think i used to spam 'HAHAHAHAHAHAHA' 'ahahahhhHahaha' 'hahahahhahahahaha' and 'thx for ur points lol' to make them flip out and disconnect, at which point i would report them for triple the ownage
Yeah exactly, you are winning the game so if he whines just take the piss:
"Cry more noob" "Wow, beating you was even easier than fucking your mother" etc...
Then they just get totally owned.
If someone has a go at you after winning, then just be like "Oh wow you think you're amazing cos you won a SC game?,You're life must be fucking lame." then ignore them.
If you take things to heart you're gonna have problems doing lots of things in life, just lighten up.
