I just finished playing a PvZ @ Python on ICCup. Anyways the whole game I am leading. I do a 1+ Zeal Rush after FE and force lots of lings and basically go up to 7 gates break out and kill his expo. I think expo all over the map and this guy keeps saying shit like:
"Your a fucking noob" "Its too bad I am not even trying" "You such and I don't think you'll get past D rank"
so I was replying "if I suck so much and I'm a noob and you are losing to be then aren't you a bigger noob" and his reply is shut the fuck up you dumb fuck you suck and I'm not trying"
Last thing I said to him was check Yaqoob @ ICCup since last season C+.
Here is his profile: http://sc.iccup.com/iccscprofile/375366/
See this is the thing that I don't understand. He is 14-27 and isn't really that good and I'm raping him [oh and btw hes from the usa - ]...so i'm raping him and he's calling me a noob and says he isn't trying.
ICCup has some weird bm people. Like today I took someones gas and then he 2 rax + scv rush me and I say gg and leave and then he precedes to message me in the channel saying 'fuck you'.
I didn't take screenshots of this garbage cause I didn't feel like and I was trying to micro during the PvZ.
I don't understand why people can't be good manner and when they lose its either because:
a) You made stupid mistakes and could've won b) Your opponent is better then you
ICCup can really be annoying at times.

|
Just ignore them, ignore them or send them a smiley or something after they just wrote you a 500 word BM-essay on why you suck, they'll just get even more pissed off and probably start crying.

Ouch, thanks I like to consider myself a very mannered person so lay off k?
Yeah ICCup is annoying but laughing and going on your merry uberskilled way is a lot better than feeding the problem, get what I'm saying , EH?
+ Show Spoiler + By retaliating with a jibe at the ever so old 'eh' joke, that Canadians love to add in to their speech, at the USA being stereotyped as BM insult I know I'm a hypocrite but I would like to say, you win some you lose some. Good day!

haha similar thing happend to me, some rumainian guy started whining when I beat him pvz, saying protoss is all about a-move and how easy they were, telling me how bad I was etc. So I said "well lets play zvp then, me zerg" and I beat him even harder, and he started to complain about how he was not a protoss player and how he didn't know any timings and stuff, and how lame I was because I was using sunken/lurk deff at one of my bases. Some guys are quite pathetic

What was the point of saying this? I'd say something rude, but I'm not a bm American, thx.
Anyways, yeah people are stupid on iccup. Why? Because they can be. They know you can't go to their house and beat them up, and they know they can say whatever they want and be as tough as they want. Looks like he won, because he got you frustrated enough to make a thread about it.

Well you offended me but I'l let it go. I don't understand why you start a post telling us how some random guy is being rude and all the bad things hes saying to you. Than you turn around and say that. I hope you realize how much of a jackass you made yourself sound.

He said 'fuck you' because you gas stole him and didn't survive the obvious counter cheese, making you seem like a cheesy noob.

dont talk to people like that, either just ignore what they write completely and after the game is done /ignore, or do what i do, whenever they write something i write, leave game noob, gets em worked up good. Talking to people like that is like talking to a brick wall, also if he's really being bm you can take shots and report him to the admins, much better than spending 10 mins arguing with a moron.
|
Anti-americanism is the only acceptable racism these days.
|
Maybe the reason he is saying people from the US are BM is because as soon as he says something slightly less than complimentary about them, they all rain a shitstorm of "hey why are you insulting a nation of people it's not like we're all the same!" on him.

Just think what kind of pathetic life it would take for you to get satisfaction from cussing random people over a video game. Makes it pretty easy to ignore them.^^

it's true, this guy started to whine like hell as soon as he realized he was losing. Happened on iccup a few days ago . "There's no way you can have that much minerals" "fuck you you stupid noob hacker" "(me)then check the replay" "to see that you hack?"
etc etc
And yeah, always when I climb D ranks there's some kid who says something along the lines of 'yeah you just got lucky you stupid noob' when I win. They usually fall silent when I reply that I'm B and I'm just climbing ranks though. I also dislike all the people who believe you have to type 'gg' after you lose or else you are a badmannered dickhead. It's just a ladder for christ's sake, stop acting so personal. Like 80% of the people doesn't type 'gg', no big deal. What bothers me is that sometimes when I don't people start shit-talking in channel or deny a regame. Pretty silly I think.
But really, I don't think it's that bad or immature on ICC. It only happens once in a while. I remember when WGTour was 'the' ladder people bm:ed you after every game - no matter if they won or lost. Now on ICC I only encounter it like once per 50 games or something.

Fuck, your internet experience is so degraded with this state of mind :\

lol... Popular online games have *masses* of bm kiddies, age of the game doesn't matter as long as it's still somewhat popular. SC is almost as bad in this regard as CS which probably no sane person is playing anymore. I used to be annoyed by such behavior too but I've learned to ignore it in most cases. When I played Quake 3 I often got into discussions with such lamers... to no avail of course. They'll just keep on whining and flaming, whether they lose or win (of course they start doing it most often when they lose). Just ignore it, or, if you want to be mean, always reply with a ":P" smiley and nothing else. That will piss off a lot of these lamers if they are losing, it'll frustrate them even more. Remember that he must be frustrated, otherwise he probably wouldn't start flaming to begin with... you can use that to really make him mad.
|
just type /ignore username or /dnd
That should fix major problems.
I classify still few points very bad manner and that is whispering "gg" after game if I lost without saying "gg" (which I don't say).
Second bad thing is asking for regame. If I say no then its no (I don't play twice vs same guy), this is because SC2 most likely will not have this feature if its going to be like WC3 ladder.
|
Oh yeah *never* accept re-games when playing lamers. If you've beat him (hopefully by a large margin), then just say something along the lines of "i don't play vs noobs, fuck off" and (important!) turn on /dnd - so that when he wants to reply he gets the message that you're not available. Guaranteed to make him mad. After 5min or so you can turn it off.

I believe you should always say gg. It's just to acknowledge that it was a fair game and therefore their win is thanks to good decisions on their part. To me not saying gg is like saying "you won but I'm better, you got lucky".

But what if it wasn't? What if you lose to a D- player doing a 4pool and you messing up? You still say gg? I just don't think it's very important on ladders. I always 'gg' in official games - clanleagues and tours - but on a ladder I'd prefer not to. I think it's because of the lack of knowledge who I'm playing. What if you played a known hacker like Dino on a smurf? I sure as hell wouldn't risk typing 'gg' to someone like Dino.

shauni, if you don't type gg i can positively tell that you're a dickhead just using my personal experience. There's way better people then you typing gg losing to stupid shit. You're the one taking game personally since u get mad over a loss. Hypocrite.

yeah, people that dont type gg are the scum of the earth, we should hunt them all down for being such huge dickheads.
|
But what if it wasn't? What if you lose to a D- player doing a 4pool and you messing up? You still say gg?
Yes. Because he beat you in the mind game. You should have played safer, even if you were worried about Combat-EX getting an economic lead. In those D level ranks, you have to play more moderately.
To the op: I've never seen that on iCCup, but I have seen it a few times on B.net, especially when I do those random observer pubbies. I'll be play TvP, and when it's clear I'm owning him, he'll start telling me how much I suck and how I'm a noob turtler... I guess he wanted me to move out with insufficient forces so he could have won, instead of doing a standard 6 fac timing attack against him while he was getting his 3rd expo (and actually a 4th one too, the greedy little bastard). If I actually had been a turtle, he would have gotten his carriers out in time to not be completely useless, but I'm such a noob I attacked when he was weak. NR BETWEEN 7 AND 8 MINUTES STUPID NOOB! Then he proceeded to continue whispering me after the game was over. I guess he was really humiliated or something. Maybe he was on a streak of wins in the observer games and was getting lots of compliments.
PS: He was definitely American
PPS: Oh my gosh, friendly banter!

Once I was playing a guy TvT on andromeda. I started off with a 14 cc he started off with "r u a nigger? i h8 niggers" and i didn't answer. then about 12 minutes later i was raping him pretty hard and said "oh, btw, i am a nigger" and he just left. btw I'm not actually black, I hope no one's offended by me saying that word but it was really to just get back at that guy for being a douchebag who's somehow still racist in 2008

... Wait, read my post again, I don't think you got it. Getting mad over a loss has nothing to do with it. I've lost to massling from an inferior opponent and gg'ed many times in matches. I said it's because laddering with ICCup accounts doesn't have anything related to you as a person. Sure if I recognize a nick, or if it was run like TSL or Spirit I'd type gg every game unless my opponent is a known asshole.
I believe it is good to take things personally, if you start saying gg as a habit the word has lost its value. As it is now, I simply do not care and I don't see why anyone else would. I'm exactly as happy with the 'xxx has left the game' as a gg on ICCup.

i've played a lot of games where i'm ahead all game, lose, feel like complete shit but still bring myself to gg, only to see the other guy say 'wow i got lucky, good game' and talk about the game a bit. it's infinitely better to see that than just leave and steam about it.
edit: even after all this, i'm fine if you ultimately decide not to gg, doesn't affect me at all. just don't try to justify it with some bullshit excuse like you did in your last post - if you say 'gg' too much, it loses its meaning? are you serious?
|
gg pretty much means "I lose" and "I acknowledge your loss," it's just the formal way of saying it. It doesn't really mean "I thoroughly enjoyed our duel, it was among the better contests in which I have partaken."
Saying you have some ideological objection to saying gg after you lose to a four pool is laughably absurd. If you beat someone with cheese, and they said gg, would you not say gg because it wasn't really a good game, you just all-ined because you felt it was the best way to win? Would you say "I disagree?"
|
I'm pretty serious. As I said earlier, if I had to type gg to Dino playing on a smurf, I'd lose all the pride I ever accumulated through my 10 years in Starcraft. And you don't agree that gg has lost its meaning??? Hell, it doesn't even mean good game nowadays. More so, it means - as Kwark wrote - "you won fair and square - here's your win". How is that gg? It barely even holds any connection to the real term.

I would frown. But it's not that it's a cheap win, I was just using it as an example. Many good players 4pool.

I think where our opinions differ is that you see ICC as a potentially friendly atmosphere with normal people playing where I rather think of it as a tool for practice. I don't expect people to type anything to me, and I sure as hell don't enjoy people acting all friendly with 'from?' and similiar useless remarks. Anonymous practice games are supposed to stay anonymous. If you want a friendly game with kind people and a nice atmosphere - you play on op tl-west or in similiar channels with people you recognize.

Yaq, get on vent, lol... gg is like shaking hands after a match in sports. gg nowadays just acknowledges the other player playing better than you, and even if you play like crap you should say gg. After an actual 'good game' I usually discuss the game with them afterwards and they're usually pretty willing to do so, it's fun. Kind of like shaking hands after a starcraft game that was really good and the gg was just for acknowledgements. (the Koreans used to do it if it was a good game...)

I don't see why some people are getting so worked up with no saying gg. I completely agree with Shauni when he says that leaving a game without saying gg or having someone leave a game without a gg is perfectly ok. If we say gg everygame, what's the point of doing it in the first place? I mean, if I get thoroughly destroyed by someone, I'll type gg to acknowledge that they are far and away the better player, but if you're evenly matched, then what's the point?
You don't even know them and playing iccup versus random people is suppose to be for fun. I don't see how trying to force everyone to say gg fits into that spirit.
Go Shauni! You rock!
|
Saying gg is just mannered.
Kind of like after a Soccer game players walk in a line and shake the other teams hands. It just shows manner, there isn't like a really great reason to do it, but if one of the players in another team from Soccer didn't line up to shake hands it really makes him look like a douche compared to the rest of his teammates who are exchanging hand shakes.

Yeah I just started iCCup a few days ago, and one of the first games I win, my opponent turns so BM it's ridiculous He looks up my points (897) and when he sees it, he goes on a tirade about how noob I am for like 5 minutes. I don't get why he felt so offended by losing to me, but he starts saying I should just literally kill myself, cause I am a stupid noob that shouldn't be beating him. Then he starts bragging about how his other account is a C- actually, which makes me wonder why he created a 1v1 D game then. Seriously, he says all this nasty shit and I'm just sitting there going what the hell... At first he asks for a rematch so I consider it, but a few moments later he says how tired he is and how he should be going to sleep now. Right, so the excuse for losing to the pathetic noob I am is that he was tired. Oh, and I shouldn't play Starcraft because with 897 points I have no hope ever of being good and he's never dropped below 1000 points. Yeah, I think he's the one that shouldn't be playing Starcraft.

It's the general attitude you get from most americans and canadians on the web; on d2jsp; full of flaming, Halo 3/xBox Live; 12 year olds yelling at you (mostly canadian or american), any computer game children yelling at people because they are raged when they lose.

sounds like Castro vs Idra

It sucks becasue it doesn't stop even at like the C/C+ level...I mean every game, just more BM. I even had some kid I don't even know say.."Jask why you cheese me, I know you on west"...to which i asked for his aka and he gave me some aka I have never heard of....
Then I was like well sry, GG...and hes like no I am going to make this hard for you so he ran scvs aroud the map and lifted buildings etc...but i just went scouts...becasue i already had the gas and the tech and i finished him wuite easily.
I also obs'd a game today and this zerg rolled the fuck out of this Protoss, like no contest...and the protoss afterwards says "not bad"...I found this BM somewhat...what do you think?

This has never happened to me yet but I do get people that lose and just leave, no GG. Anyways, the way I see it is that you just need to roll with the punches. I'd just laugh at him, slap on a /dnd and keep on doing whatever I was doing. =)

I went 4 stargate carriers in a PvZ and won and the guy kept saying "You must have been really desperate for the win" or "what a shitty strategy to lose to."
I didn't care for what he said, I won using Carriers so I was like "LOL gg?!?! ;DDDD" which probably sounded bm hardcore XP

ignoring insults is good to piss them off

It always happens in every game... I remember when i first started playing DotA, a friend was trying to show me what to do with items and shit and like random people would be like "LoLn00b" and i had no clue of what to do and i still think i did ok.
But yeah XBOX Live is amazing for fat american kids to try and insult people, always good fun to insult back.
The best thing to do is to just say "GG" or something like "ahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha GG".
Really makes them rage.

I have a standard reply for bm on iccup now:
CRAI MOAR PLZ! Call a WAAMBULANCE! followed by /dnd
It makes me happy i no longer give BMers my time to think of new retorts (although it's a pain to type, capslock is always fun though), and pisses them off to boot.
As for people disconnecting without gg, I gg out of all my games unless they have actually been bming me, and sometimes even then out of habit. I consider it slightly bm when others do it, but really not important enough to worry about.
My opinion of humanity is not particularly high, i pretty much come to expect the lack of manners as the norm now, there really isn't much point giving two shits about it. Just accept that people aren't always polite and move on.
