So...now that mexico has been shot down due to my mothers whim (she doesnt want to go to mexico. No logical reasoning other than she doesnt feel like it, because it's her senior spring break right?) So now i am left with 2 options 1) Come up with another place inside the U.S. 2) Stay home while my parents go somewhere.
So... 1 - All my friends are going to the mayan riviera. All of them. In fact i'm pretty sure the Barcelo Maya is going to be completely occupied by southeastern michigan. So I dont really know where to go or what to do
2 - Stay home. I know of one friend who's not going anywhere for spring break. Other than that I'm not sure, it will probably be a ghost town in terms of seniors. So yea. But hey at least i'd have the house for a week. And depending on when my parents leave, i might be able to have some of my other friends come over (they are either going 20-27 or 22-29, sb starts 21 and ends 30)

Friends = mexico mom =/= mexico me =/= friends
I am going to hold this over her the rest of her life for ruining my senior spring break.

Wait, so what does your mom have to do with this?

background info: spoiled, middle-class (and higher) high school kids in america (i used to belong to this group) have what they believe is a fundamental right to something called a "senior spring break," which is basically a week-long trip, typically to someplace warm and tropical (i.e. cancun/cozumel in mexico, etc) so that teenagers can walk around in skimpy bathing suits all day long while partying and having fun. it's basically a vacation full of partying, fun, and hanging out with friends for a week away from home and away from parents/authority etc. also closely related to this is the actual "senior trip," which occurs typically the summer after graduation and is basically the same shit as the senior spring break, except maybe in a different location and maybe for a longer period of time.
i don't remember what i did for my senior spring break, i think i went to galveston or south padre or something (i'm from texas)... my senior trip during the summer i went to nyc for a week with my gf, yeeehawww
and yeah, i do think your mom is being a bit unreasonable for this, but remember that your parents are the ones splashing out the hundreds (maybe thousands, depending on where you go) of dollars for you to go on this trip and have fun. be glad they're even considering this, i remember my senior year there were lots of kids' parents who weren't willing to do/pay shit (and i lived in one of the richest suburbs in texas) for their trips
if you're bummed about it, you'll have plenty of other opportunities in college to party and go on trips with friends, so don't worry too much.
or you could skip out on this and guilt your mom into paying for an insane trip/vacation during the summer

Went to Spain for my senior SB. Of course, the whole country was shut down since there was that terrorist attack in Madrid =\
Defac, if you have the money, just go, If not, then you're SOL. Accept it and stay home and find something fun to do there. GL

I'm staying home because I'm too broke to go anywhere and my parents haven't given me money in years. Go while you have the chance.
