Just thought I would express my thoughts on iccup. Today I played my first game on it and the skill level was quite a bit different than expected. I know I suck, but I thought I could at least compete at the D level. Today i went 0-3 and quit after that. I played all three Terran matchups and got crushed.

I was wondering if skill level on iccup changes throughout the day? Like today, I played during what i assume is a korean hour cuz I played three koreans.

The games I played against art members were quite a bit different from these D level players.

If you played koreans theres a good chance that they were much better than D and had resetted or just started playing so were still at D level. Place at a time with much less koreans and you'll find it much easier, trust me. I play at a time when there's hardly any koreans (cause its like 4am here when the koreans come on I think) so with my smurf accounts I've found playing at D and D+ to be pretty easy now compared to at the start of the season.

it's towards the end of the season, so generally speaking the Ds you played are people who actually belong there and can't advance much further. if it's afternoon or evening in korea there will be harder competition on icc, but since you lost 3 in a row i'm not sure this applies to you. it's more likely that you simply aren't used to the level of play, and yeah it takes a bit more than you'd expect to compete

the Ds with decent ratios almost all know standard opening builds, basic responses/counters, and have some knowledge of micro/macro. to put things into perspective, the average bnet pubbie is not even close to D- while i'd estimate the average tlnet member to be around D+. when i first started laddering back in the day i was shocked at the number of 'bad' players that i thought were pretty good :D

ICCup is harsh like that. I'd give it a few more games, but yes, you will most likely be stuck at D at best. If you don't win a single game in your first 10, then yea lol quit and practice some more so you can get more out of ICC.
