Ill give you that. I will say that there is a difference in their games - frog had a way of getting in the heads of even his best opponents. Watching his games you got the clear indication that this guy was manipulating his rivals. Misdirecting, fake showing, sacrificing otherwise valuable units to gain a positional advantage elsewhere.

Watching enough of his replays, you could see he would feel out each game, playing aggressively. then when he had discovered an exploit, he would devise some ingenious tactic to destroy his opponent. His games were blissfully and unpredictably creative. And - almost everyone agreed he had the best micro in the world.

I remember watching a game with frog vs some top orc in 2008 on twisted meadows. Frog spawns 8, orc 2. Frog harasses with dk and ghouls while teching. Lich at t2, with slaughter. Instant t3. Frog takes ghouls back home to creep, gets l2. Ghouls on lumber. Frog follows orc to the 1o clock expo with dk and lich. Sniping creep kills, coil/nova the odd raider. Dreadlord pops at tier3, adds 9 frenzy ghouls to control group with 2 statues. Frog creeps 7o clock nat with this "second" army. While harassing with dk lich. Orc is stuck chasing dk lich instead of creeping, while frog takes his DL/ghoul to the 5o clock goblin lab. Boom. 8 minutes, dk level 3, lich level 2, and dreadlord level 3.5 with sick items. 2nd slaughter in base, pumps statues rallied. 3hero UD frenzy ghouls mass destro.

You might say 'so big deal, he harassed to t3 and crept with 3rd hero', anybody can do that now'. But that person might not understand that /no/ one was doing anything like that back then. It requires tremendous multitasking and situational awareness. And it required the godlike micro that we now see in 120.

A person might then say, 'well, in todays meta, his tactics never would have held up'. To which id say:

Frog seemed to possess an otherwordly ability to predict what his opponent was about to do, then exploit it to get a bit ahead. One step ahead became two, and so on. Even against Grubby and Moon. It should surprise no one that these are traits which they were also notorious for - which made their inevitable collisions a source of unparalelled joy for us lowly spectators.

120 is a different beast. The kid is a prodigy of unit control and game sense. He seems to be living in his own parallel universe. One where, consistently, engaging in a battle with a 20 food deficit seems like a pretty reasonable thing to do.

He understands the game incredibly well, and once he has a timing or finds an exploit, he does not let up. Ive seen this kid engage in the most foolhardy, punishable environments, and seen him chase away the enemies army - with a last second coilnova hero kill to boot.

He really seems indomitable. Hes nowhere near as cerebral as frog, but his timings and unit control would make him the top contender in any era.

As an aside, I just have to mention this: in all my years as a spectator, I never once saw frog get out microed in a big match. The fool was hands down the greatest controller ive ever seen. But watching 120, its clear that the same talent is there. Not the same strategic talent or global game awareness, but the blunt force trauma micro that could kill a guy right there, no matter what the odds
