It does not matter what sentimental value the tournament brought to the viewers, or the kind of marketing it had from the tournament organizers. I cannot make exceptions just because people have fonder memories for some tournaments over others, because that is entirely based on subjective experiences, and I'm not here to appease to the personal experiences of other people. For example, Shinhan Masters was marketed as the culmination of Shinhan OGN StarLeague Seasons 1, 2, and 3, with high placing players from these three tournaments being invited to duke it out between themselves. So, technically speaking, Shinhan OGN StarLeagues can be argued as being the preliminary stages for the Shinhan Masters, but I actually rate each of these Shinhan OGN StarLeagues higher on the competitive scale, due to the hundreds of professionals duking it out for the trophy, instead of a handful of famous players being invited for yet another invitational. I'm in hopes that you agree with this assessment, and realize that reasoning has to be applied equally to all the other tournaments that happened in history. There were so many bonus tournaments specifically designed to milk the lucrative pull of certain star players, and skipped the due process of filtering out the good from the bad, with the competitive stakes and player skill generally scaling up as the tournament progressed (which cannot be said for the WCG main stages). How many tournaments was BoxeR invited to simply based on his name value? Sure those tournaments had some epic moments too, but having epic moments and the tournament having proper competitive merit are entirely different matters. | ||
