Drawing from one of my workshops, this is time-lapsed version. Real time version available too but so long.

Smallville memories anyone? digital but painted in the style as if i'm using physical pastel. Color is purposely over saturated like a comic book.

Last one is from a relaxed and casual long stream. You get a slower look at one of my older drawings and I answer a bunch of questions. 2nd half of this video is a bit more interesting as I take viewer's drawings and tweak / improve (well, that's subjective but I like to think so, in the direction of realism at least) them on the spot (there is a couple more video like this in my channel):

Thanks for the collection, especially enjoyed the one where you play around with light (is it an accident that the model looks a lot like Scarlett Johansson?) and the "Pastel" one. Really like the colors in that one. Also your coal pictures are lively and impressive as always.

omg allure of light 2 so gud with dat music :3 too tired to watch the rest rn

i pulled out my intuous pro the other day and tried to copy a (blurry, lol) screenshot i'd taken

never coloured before, but really it was just super cheating by eyedropping the screenshot and replicating what i saw

at least i'm guessing that's cheating, idk

maybe you cheat until things start to have reason behind them

the blur tool wasn't workin at the end so its a bit blotchy until i load it up agen

also proportions are wrong but i wanted to hurry it along and get to the colouring

didn't quite realise how long it'd take to do lol, but was surprised how well it came out...you just need to put the time in... that's just a result of being eyedropping the source of course and not having any form of skill or logic involved

need to watch some tutorials on using photoshop brushes u can see from the hair i just kept using the default brush without a clue

what i dont understand is how to draw the straight/curved lines on top of a sketch . it takes me like 30 attempts to draw a line. is that normal for a beginner?

i started on another pic, need to do the lines and colour her (or probably just start over). altho you don't draw as many outline lines yourself i think, the way you paint, it's something i want to figure out tho. (well, its because you dont need to!!)

also i need to watch a tutorial/set up my intuous pro so i can turn the canvas rather than turning my arm or at one point trying to turn the intuous pro upside down lol

Woke up too early, while waiting for breakfast to heat up I hope you don't mind I messed around with your drawings a bit.

by eyedrop the reference or w/e with out other knowledge of the face such as where subtle capillaries are, learn to see just how many different shade of colors there are on a face and how to apply color on top of gradient map etc you are doing yourself a disservice. the face is full of complex colors and when you only sample just two or three colors it looks flat and dull. I don't know what the reference image is but I just based my tweak on your character / lighting and you see there is a bit more vibrancy and complexity to the face just doing it out of the head.

Blur is also bad if you use it too much. (even if source is blurry, doesn't mean you can't add details yourself) if you must use it, know where and how and not just apply it kinda everywhere to smooth out tones. Also nothing wrong with default brush, my entire drawing here was done with the basic circle brush.

Ideally you draw lines in smooth motions, relax the wrist and so on, especially for hair. I didn't do a very good job on mine either but there shouldn't be tiny small lines making up a longer line. Again I kinda more or less used your art as a reference point, had only 5min on that one before my chicken starts to burn lol. But you don't use lines to do strains of hair in line drawing. You use it to define structure (think anime)

you've given me a few solid things to Youtube for , for sure now before i do anything else, and the interest to do it , nice one :D

Looking at the reference isn't cheating at all, it's how most ppl learn basic stuff

If you're using PS you can turn the canvas by holding R down iirc, my PS is broken atm so I can't try it out.

Just wanted to say this is really good. Usually don't read blogs much but I was scrolling around, saw this regarding art, figured I'd check it out and bravo. Well done. =) Really liked the light one.
