I'll be travelling to London, swiss, Germany and Italy next week. The trip wasn't planned by me, so I have no clue about prices etc. Need to prepare some euros/pounds/francs mainly for food.

I would like to know roughly how much I would be spending each day. Let's just assume I'll be spending each day on:

1 x normal food meal (like fast food or something? Or are restaurants standard there if eating out)
1 x restaurant meal (pizza/pasta etc?)
2 x random street food (ice cream cakes etc)
2 x drinks (bottled drinks, ice chocolate etc)
Breakfast? (Think it will be buns and breads etc)

Could some kind folks give me a rough estimate on how much these would cost in the 4 places I'm visiting?

Thanks!

London ouch so expensive in London as they live in a different economic world to everyone else. You will need alot of pounds there, looking at £15-20 per meal in a restaurant add a drink in and like £30 a pop easily. Fast food outlets might be worth it there

For Germany this depends largely on where u plan to go and how willing you are to go out of your way to buy that food, as it probably does for all these countries.

I actually have not much clue as to where I'm going specifically. But the cities...

Berlin London Oxford Interlaken Milan Florence Rome Stuttgart I think.

Berlin = cheap, just get a Kebap and you're set. Same for dinks, seek a "Späti" and you're good.
Food from 2-5€ for takeaway, a beer from 0.5 to 1.6€. The more bavarian the beer, the more expensive it will be.
Restaurant prices are fair if you dodge the tourist traps and settle for drinking one beer or smoothie instead of 3. I usually end up eating a little too much (i.e. my whole dish), drink a beer and end up with about 10€

Stuttgart is rather pricy for german standards, especially eating out in a random restaurant. But as I've never been there myself and can just speak out of some friends' experience who actually live there, I can't tell you numbers.

And yeah, you might wanna skip changing Dollars into Francs

When I want to eat really cheap while on vacation I go to the supermarket and buy some fruit/vegetable/bread/spread and just eat it. Who needs a hot meal in the summer anyways!

In Stuttgart (closest "big" city to where I lived as a kid), I would spend ~20-30 € for what I think you describe. Based on my rather limited travel experience in recent years/pulling numbers out of my hat, I would say that the factors for other cities might be something like
Berlin:<1
London,Oxford: >3
Interlaken: ~2
Milan, Florence, Rome: 1-1.5
edit: you might also be fine with 15€. But really, it depends on many variables.

Francs is no longer a currency, for ~15 years I think. Euro is France currency now.

The prices will depend on the city, I do not know about Paris prices, but everywhere else it should be around :

1x normal food meal : ~15€
1x restaurant meal : ~15-20€
2x random street food : 2* ~5€
2x drinks : 2* ~ 2-5€
Breakfast : ~5-10€

Regular places. You can ofc find much more expensive stuff.
Resistance ain't futile

I mean, £20 is about the most you'll spend on a restaurant meal unless you go to a fancier place. Just your standard burger/italian/chinese/pub/whatever, it'll be about £10-12 for main course, maybe £4 for a starter or dessert and £4 for a beer. I spent waaaay more money on food when I lived in Geneva.

If you want a recommendation, Camden is really good for finding delicious food for under £20. Porky's BBQ on Chalk Farm road is a fantastic BBQ place well-known for their pork (unsurprisingly). Otherwise, just going to somewhere like St Pauls and wandering around is pretty decent, there's a big range of places and for the area they're generally not too pricey. And you can always just find a pub, every pub does food and most are cheap and cheerful.

I second Camden, fantastic food at a market near the Regent's Canal. My visit was during the weekend so don't count on it being there.
It's at Camden High Street when it crosses Regent's Canal and a little further down the road, then called Chalk Farm Road you'll find "The Stables Market" which I personally enjoyed walking through admiring all the stuff they sell there.

Bring along your student card,11b and abuse the shit outta it. Especially for transport(mostly trains). Some places may accept military ID for some discount but its quite rare(more common in murica)

London, Stuttgart and Interlaken are the most expensive. Add 30 to 50% more of what you will pay in SG. The other cities are comparable to SG and maybe cheaper if you go off the beaten track. Bring chilli if you really need spice.

That's only half true. If you're going out to a restaurant or what not then yes.
If you're going to some chain you'll get away cheaper than that.
Go to Gregg's, McDonalds or something and you can eat slightly cheaper.
I'd recommend Nando's or GourmetBurgerKitchen, should be similar prices than everywhere else, and it's good stuff

If you're coming through Aylesbury on the way to Oxford I'll treat to you to a meal
But yeah, Oxford is quite nice, deffo worth a visit.
I'm not a big fan of London, but if you've never been it's alright I guess.

Switzerland:
Fastfood: ~10 €
Breakfast: ~10 € (but this will most likely be included if you are in an actual Hotel and not a Hostel/Motel)
Random Street Food: Doesn’t really exist? But you should probably check out a Bakery/Confisserie.
"normal" Restaurant: 15-25+++ €
"nice" Restaurant: 35-50+++ €
Beer in a Bar: 4-5+++ € (more in cities/tourist locations, less in villages).
Bottled drinks : 1-2 € (Coke, Beer), 2-3 € for Chocolate milk and stuff like that.

In general, its very expensive. If you are in Zürich, well, just think London. In General the French speaking part is a bit cheaper than the german speaking area.

These are all approximations, based on my visits. They might differ depending on how well you know the cities and if you wander off the beaten tourist path or not. These are based on larger cities in each respective country.

London, UK
Normal meal - £5-15
Restaurant meal - £20-40
Coffee at a café - £3-6
A .5l bottle of Coca-Cola - £1.3-2.5
Breakfast (eating out) - £5-10
Breakfast (groceries) - £2.5-6

Basel, Switzerland
Normal meal - €10-20
Restaurant meal - €20-50
Coffee at a café - €5-7
A .5l bottle of Coca-Cola - €2.5-4
Breakfast (eating out) - €10-15
Breakfast (groceries) - €4-8

Berlin, Germany
Normal meal - €7-15
Restaurant meal - €15-30
Coffee at a café - €2.5-5
A .5l bottle of Coca-Cola - €2-3
Breakfast (eating out) - €5-10
Breakfast (groceries) - €2.5-6

Rome, Italy
Normal meal - €8-15
Restaurant meal - €20-40
Coffee at a café - €1.5-5
A .5l bottle of Coca-Cola - €2-3
Breakfast (eating out) - €7-12
Breakfast (groceries) - €3.5-7

Wandering closer to tourist paths will cost you more. Living like a local will therefore cost you less. I suggest really trying to find all the quaint places because not only will costs go down - finding somewhere that feels truly unique is more likely to happen.

GKB in my city is expensive let alone London's version. Was £12 for burger, then you have to buy fries separate xD But yeah if you going to a restaurant which i thought you normally do on holiday you gonna be pushing £25-30 a head for couple drinks and meal as London is pricey. If you gonna go Greggs or McDonalds then of course you should be fine, someone said Pub dinners which i guess would be the best bet but im not to sure about those as it depends where abouts in London you are. My experience is always SW6 area for Chelsea and of course i know that is a "posh"ish area and well we paid £15 for a fish and chips xD
