My rank continues to climb, though I think I am correctly ranked at this point. When I see videos like Fan's recent guide to warming up and he does a Sylv combo of haunting wave backwards, bolt forwards, shadow dagger/envenom/withering fire, then return via the haunting wave at the start of the combo...well, that leaves me a little in awe. And suddenly more aware of my own inadequacies as a player and an idea of stuff I could be working on.
In general, I don't think about the combos characters can do. I mean, obviously I think about small combos like how to dump all of jaina's cooldowns at once, or how to get a long stunlock with diablo. But in mid combat with sylv I don't think I've ever gone in thinking about using every single ability in a big long street-fighter-esque combo like that. I'll have to start thinking about that more.
It's good to have friends
Around rank 14 my main ladder partner and I met another pair(level 16 at the time), and we quickly got on a teamspeak server and now the four of us regularly pair up in heroleague. The effect has been pretty remarkable, with all of us being a good fit mentally for each other. Collectively we've all gone from rank 16-14 to rank 12-10 in the last week. I think it's because we're getting so much practice together both in QM and HL--- our repertoire of powerful 2-man hero combinations is growing day by day. I guess this is a good life lesson in heroes: while my main partner and I had been progressing, that progression was slow. With more people in our regular rotation there is more cross-pollination of ideas, and generally more progress.
