Months of procrastination and waiting for my tax number have passed since I asked for feedback on TL. Now, the game is finally up on Google Play store and Apple's app store! (it should be around the 40th result if you search the name Colooor Match, quite a bummer for me really)

It's is a match three game that actually requires a lot of thinking (a bit too much if you ask me). Since I was learning how to use the game engine, Unity, I kept this project really simple.

Obviously, this is not my magnum opus, but I'm quite content on how it's turned out as my first game. My next game that I will do for my capstone project will definitely be more ambitious: imagine eufloria with 1v1 competitive multiplayer (and much more awful graphics lol). Anyway, please check my game out, rate it, and share it if you have time. Feel free to give me any criticisms as well.

Agreed Are you trying to make these stepping-stone games particularly marketable, or is it just personal practice for something bigger? Apparently, kids these days like to have fruit and birds flying everywhere on their screens.

Agreed Are you trying to make these stepping-stone games particularly marketable, or is it just personal practice for something bigger? Apparently, kids these days like to have fruit and birds flying everywhere on their screens.

This is just a for fun project just to learn about the game engine. I feel you have to be really lucky to actually make a lot of money making apps by yourself (like Flappy Bird) because big casual game companies just take a hold on the market so tightly.

I really detest the casual focused smartphone games, and wanna make something more "hardcore" that I would actually like to play. Hence, the 1v1 competitive game I'm making for my senior school project starting next semester. I highly doubt it will sell, but at least it will be a nice portfolio piece

Making an app from the ground up, you will get to learn a lot of computer science stuff like mvc design pattern, framework, and other basics. It will be overwhelming at first if you are totally new. But there's a lot of resources available and if you like learning new stuff, I'm sure you will enjoy making it.

For me, I'm just lazy and used a pre-baked engine to make a simple game rather than making it from the ground up which is possible but will be a lot more involving and time consuming.
