1) I will run 2.4km (1.5 miles) in under 10 minutes.
2) I will run my first-ever half-marathon.
3) I will be able to do 15 perfect-form pull-ups.
4) I will be able to do a muscle-up.
5) I will get a girlfriend.
You know what they say about new year's resolutions - they are meant to be broken. I vowed not to let that be the case this year.
Today, I finally hit 10 pull-ups, but more importantly, I accomplished my first resolution - I ran 1.5 miles in 9:57.
It was such an emotional moment for me when I finally succeeded in doing something I never thought I was capable of. When I was young, I was small and scrawny, and often among the most unfit guy among my peers. Others would make fun of me and ridicule my lack of height and size. I would audition for my school team for many sports in the past, as it was always a dream of mine to play sports competitively, but I would always get rejected. People thought I would forever remain that unfit and scrawny guy, and for a while I thought so too. But here I am, after all that sweat, tears, and countless hours I spent at the track.
This is a monumental achievement that I will remember for a long time, because I started out with nothing.
Now, I am in the best shape of my life and I am on the precipice of something even greater.
I will not let my hard work come undone. I will strive on.
