1. Terran

Its stupid how they and Protoss are designed. Thanks to that, I cant go skytoss, i must go splash every time, I can go for early stargate with VR as first unit. Terran bio is too strong.

2. Mutas

Just very annoying and very OP.

3. Smurfs

Its almost like their current league on their main account is too hard so they make a new one, in the low levels for easy wins. Smurfs is the main reason why I quit the game. If only A LOT more people play 1v1s, maybe there will be less smurfs.

Will Lotv make smurfing worse? It could. Which is why if I do get the game, I am never gonna go 1v1 or the automated tournaments and thanks to smurfs, below diamond 1v1 tournaments are gonna be ruined. What will stop a diamond leaguer to make a new account, start in bronze, never rank up, just for easy wins for the tournaments?

Does Blizzard ban smurfs?

"Mutas" "Smurfs"

No, you quit because you don't have the heart of a champion, you don't have the work ethic to grow stronger, you don't have the humility to understand that you aren't the best, the fastest, the smartest and always need to be growing.

i also thought Mutas were crazy good for a while when i was in gold. what i found is if i attack early and stay aggressive i could set the pace for the game annd not let them go to Mutas (plus keep sentries around for hallucinations helps the shitty scouting). i had to change my whole strategy and it took some time to get used to, but it helped me a ton in all match ups after everything.

From one perspective, I played seasons 1-3 and then quit cold turkey. Came back after league was literally unplayable for about a week and still had about a gold level of play? (I fluctuate between beating low diamonds and losing to other silvers with very low (10 or less) games played). Sooo yeah, it could just be old players picking the game back up for a few and still being okay.

If mutas/bio or whatever else you can think of is truly OP, then you'd see the top players spam those strategies and win ezpz. But they don't, because it isn't. Or if they do it's not something your average players can execute flawlessly.

Long story short, you're quitting because of you can't handle it - don't blame the game.
Good luck friend!

this. you are in the "im stuck in elo hell" mentality where "smurfs" are holding you back and shit. nah, you're holding yourself back. man up and ladder up. either that or come to BW. then you'll understand how damn difficult it is to master mechanics

You could try playing zerg and use their OP mutas

Or you could try playing terran and use their OP bio

The same thing is in Brood War. The exact same kind of frustration where you have to grow and overcome it and then keep growing.

But yeah, come to the Brood Side.

you have to embrace the smurfing one day. Though it is very frustrating at times

iccup (BW) is about 10 eastern european protoss players that have >500 smurfs
iu, seungah, yura, taeyeon, hyosung, lizzy, suji, sojin, jia, ji eun, eunji, soya, younha, jiyeon, fiestar, sinb, jung myung hoon godtier. BW FOREVERR

God forbid people want to play to have fun and not to become the best.

I quit SC2 1v1 not because I didn't "have the heart of a champion" or "the work ethic to grow stronger", but because it a) I wasn't having fun anymore and b) I had other, real life obligations that demanded my attention.

From a gameplay perspective, T and P have plenty of design flaws, and TvP is a matchup in which both races are basically shoehorned into certain compositions. It's not really fun if you can't use half of your units.

Hello.

I'm a fresh player in SC2 world, only started laddering in january 2014 (so it's been a year now and I've played only 1000 games since then because I'm full time student). Last season I played NA server 1v1 ladder alot during my 3 weeks vacations. After each game I would either talk to the players about their actual «real» level or get an idea of it through looking at their statistics. And yes, as Nathanias put it, NA has become somehow a niche for smurfs, since community has seemed to agree it's the «easiest» server. But that has perhaps recently made it the hardest too for beginners since you end up facing smurfs the whole time. But here's what I thought of it in the end:

To hell with the losses.

SC2 is about learning. Not just winning. Think of it this way: you'll only ever learn as much as when you lose a game. Winning a game means you faced less resistance than you could've, and that won't get you further in the long run. Having this attitude I actually ended up beating smurfs (like ex-masters), which made me feel proud and gave me the conviction I had truly gotten better from where I was in the past. Also, knowing you can face a smurf every game, you'll just play your best every time, finding no excuse in «oh well he's just gold, I can chill». No. Just play your best, always, and you'll only get better faster this way.

Whine less, practice more, and don't care for the level in front of you or in the win/loss result.

And if it may be of any help: these players looking to face lesser players are the losers in the long run, because once they go back to their own leagues they'll have lost a lot of their skills facing newbs. Their skill is decreasing. Your's is increasing. You win in the long run.

Do you realise some people just see it as a videogame to have casual fun while they have 100x more rewarding and fulfilling lives outside battle.net? Or do they have to sweat blood otherwise they are not worthy of playing?

Dude you are so full of shit. Pretty much nothing of what you said is accurate, I mean, how can you be anything less than grandmaster and have any kind of opinion on balance? I sometimes feel the way you do but instantly tell myself I'm full of shit, I can just get better and beat whatever is feeling frustrating to me.

And whining about smurfs makes me think you're probably nowhere near GM.

Im missing broken mmr and terrible blizzard servers in there. And for the intro something like "I am gm level player stuck in plat" would have been great.

The complains about "terran" and "smurfs" are pretty absurd - yes, there is one toss unit that is stupidly bad agains terran, so just don't build it, right? and there are not even remotely many smurfs as you believe, it's just you are not as solid as you think so sometimes people of similar skill beat you on some weak point of yours.

On the other hand I understand the "mutas" pain - while they aren't OP at the top level, they are extremely annoying for a lower-level player to deal with. That's one thing that the competitive TL population stubbornly refuses to understand - for the game to be popular, it has to be balanced at all levels. Of course, to be a good competitive title, it needs balance at the pro level, but to keep a healthy playerbase of noobs (which is crucial for long-term viability), it needs to provide a good experience to them. The "balance only for top level" mantra is doing much more harm than good to the popularity of SC in general. But you can rest assured that it was much, much worse in BW ...

Anyway, I have solved the muta problem a long time ago and came out really happy - I play Zerg now, come join the SWARM.

If he's bored, that's fine. If he wants to do something else with his time, that's fine. If you're not having fun, it's fine. But if you play a competitive game against another person, and then lose, and your only take-away is "That loss was bullshit", then you aren't thinking clearly. If you are a casual player and have no desire to improve, you should not cry when you lose.

The best solution to see how the balance really looks like is to play race/tactics you find broken. It does wonders when it comes to fighting bias. ;]

Highlighting this wonderful post, I hereby petition to make everything sc2 related on TL (eg Maps & Costum Games forum, Blogs, etc) read-only for everyone not having an active GM account! Also, for obvious - skill related - reasons, GMs from SEA, TW, China and NA and EU have to be excluded as well.

Making TL a better place for everyone some.

So im back to playing sc2 lol.

Idk why I came back since:

1. Gotta love it you can lose if you thoguht you walled off but there was a space from a ffe.

2. Just played a 45 min game vs someone who went swarm hosts, i won, but do I really want to play 45 or more min game every time a zerg goes swarm hosts? No. Gotta love that unit!

And yes, it is accurate what i said, its not fun to play against mutas, swarm hosts, terran harass and smurfs.

For me, the competition is fun. And start learnign to beat muta players, and you'll find it fun to play against. if you really don't want to change your ways, SC2 is not your game. They're working on fixing SH things as just announced, which I'm sure we're all happy about, but you need to understand that you can't always play exactly the way you want and expect everyone to fall in line and die.

Can a mod change the title to: "Everything that causes me to multitask and/or lose is OP wahhhhhhhhhhh"

no matter what game you play that's a player vs player type game, you're going to get owned over and over until you realize your mistakes and improve accordingly to your weaknesses. that's the harsh reality, if you don't like it, you don't have to play the game.

No, you quit because you don't have the heart of a champion, you don't have the work ethic to grow stronger, you don't have the humility to understand that you aren't the best, the fastest, the smartest and always need to be growing.

It's even worse when you realize this but keep playing anyway lol

Wait, so you quit ladder because the game doesn't hold your hand?
If everyone loves you, you're not doing it right.

I was hoping for some in-depth criticism of the ladder system. What I got: Childish whining and click-baiting.

But let me help you:
1. Play Terran
2. Play Zerg
3. Make a smurf account

Glad I could help.
first we make expand, then we defense it.

I left SC2 because I find the game thoroughly unenjoyable. I thought Terran was overpowered for a few months after release and then I thought the game was reasonably well balanced, yet uninspiring. The 3 reasons in OP are BS and amount to "I lose too much".

I am done with protoss. I am sick of mutas. I am gonna switch to zerg and that will be my new main race. Maybe Lotv will change toss up enough for me to switch back.

Sad how when I tried to play a macro game vs a terran as toss I lost but won when I was zerg, and I played hundreds of less games as Zerg than toss,.

Zerg ezmode.
