So I've been playing a ton of Heroes of the Storm recently and really enjoying it, so I wanted to share with everyone what I think the most dynamic and interesting abilities are in the game (in my opinion). This game is awesome, I hope everyone gets into the alpha/beta as soon as possible. Anyways....

1. Void Prison

This spell has sooooooo many uses. You can use it to split up teams by throwing it down on the supports or the tanks. If the other team is split and coming from two different angles, you can also cut one side off and focus down the other. You can use it to run away from an entire team. If the other team is fleeing, you can trap a few and surround them. You can use it to buy time for things like gathering the tribute (can vouch) or destroying a fort. You can even use it like a forcefield to block pathways (my favorite thing is to drop it just outside the fountain while focusing the core, and the other team literally can't leave the spawn for 5 seconds). It's straight up amazing. Zagara's ultimate does something similar, but not quite as well; Void Prison activates instantly and continually collects heroes if they walk into it. All in all, it's a great positional tool, and it's instant cast time make it perfect for dynamic play.

2. The Hook

Hook is probably my favorite ability in the game. It's similar to Blitzcrank's crazy arm thingie and really forces a lot of cool positional battles. With Hook, you can not only play around with displacing enemy heroes or catching fleeing ones, but you can also do cute things like pulling people into the range of towers (or behind gates) or pulling heroes into a body-blocked corner. It also allows you to do cool combos with Stitches ult, Gorge. Hook basically changes the way the entire enemy team plays, and that's awesome. Good ability, good stuff.

3. Blink / Bolt of the Storm

This one probably doesn't need much explanation. The ability to instantly change your positioning has so many applicable uses, from running to chasing to dodging skillshots to just repositioning in a battle. LoL has Flash and Dota has the Dagger. It's simply a dynamic and interesting ability. Oh, also blinking to body block is awesome, especially with so many small chokes in the jungle areas of the maps.

4. Zombie Wall

This ability is insane. With the right positioning, you can trap a hero and kill them almost instantly or you can just use it as a forcefield wall and block a pathway for 3 seconds (On Blackheart Bay, just hide in the bushes below and Zombie wall the far away grass patch and you'll almost always trap 1-2 people at the watchtower to die a painful death). What makes this ability interesting to me is that there is a lot of counterplay involved compared to a stun or a solid root. For instance, this ability is useless against Illidan or Chen or Zeratul because they can usually just jump out (unless you wait for cooldowns...again, a dynamic mechanic). Another way to avoid dying in the zombie circle is to quick DPS down one of the zombies and break free (for instance, Stitches can one-shot a zombie later on with Devour). If you accidentally trap a friendly hero, you can always cancel it right away, and you're not committed to it. All in all, good for the game, fun to use.

5. Bloodlust

Storm, earth, and fire: heed my call!

Game so sickkk. If anyone is interested, I'll go ahead and write out my favorite talents/heroes as well.

I would have to go with death lazer.
EDIT: scratch the lazer, Tassadar best hero. I love how many different uses there are for forcefield.

Void prison is quite a good spell, but if the zeratul is a noob it is probably the spell with the biggest potential to screw your own team - people seem to like using it like Dota2's Chronosphere... ie had a case where 3 or 4 of our team were chasing right behind a lone support (Li Li I think) Zeratul drops the prison right on her and the rest of the squad promptly run straight into it, giving the enemy team enough time to regroup and come to the fight...

I agree about hook as well, been dominated in lane by a Stiches that kept hooking me into tower range... I dunno if it qualifies as coolest in the game, but I've also seen Diablos use that backwards toss thing to throw over-zealous melee heroes behind a gate, where they get blasted by the tower/fort.

If you have a list of favorite heroes/talents, do share!

Many of the abilities are a bit straightforward, tough to say which I prefer because many are so similar.

Gazlowe's bomb is pretty cool, quite strong but such a long timer that it really needs a setup. Very strong in combination with some things like the void prison.

I like Uther's holy radiance as it's an aoe that you both want to hit as much allies and enemies with.

Not really much elsewhere though, so many abilities are similar. That's not a negative comment whatsoever by the way, i like the game a lot and don't think hugely unique abilities are neccesary. Still some stuff that interacts more with the map like some ricochet shot or a long range shot that can't past walls etc would be fun.

I'm gonna go with Psi storm here, awesome damage, can be used to clear minion waves of all types from pushing minions to garden and mine creeps. Can be used to zone out opponents or to break stealth, has decent range good radius and is instant. Oh and best part, you can cast two of them for the price of one starting with level 16!

The Gazlowe combo is insane, I got a 5man in a 2vs5 situation when I got a EREW off with turrets in spot.

I actually really debated putting forcefield in here. Forcefield is really really amazing, especially because there are as many uses for it as void prison. However, it doesn't actually stop things from moving or using abilities, and heroes with hops/blink can get away from it or over it without too much difficulty. Also, bloodlust is just so good (though arguably not that dynamic or interesting).

Psi Storm is also a really great ability. But again, when limited to only 5, it's just hard to fit it in there with the rest of them. Psi Storm definitely goes down in "Honorable Mentions" along with Forcefield, Reghar's Wolf Form, Shadowstalk, and Oracle (maybe Hungering Arrow?).

This is literally the story of my first 5-6 void prisons. You really have to use it a few times before you get the hang of when and where is a good place to use it. So far, every casting of it is very spur of the moment, but if you can time it out to match with objectives or pushes, it becomes very strong, partially because the enemy team always has to be careful of it, and because it happens so fast, there's really not much they can do once it does go down.

Problem with Diablo is that his grabs are from melee range, so you really can't pull supports out of position (they'll just kite him). In addition, he can't aim as well; I've had a lot of botched charges that ended up pushing people at a wrong angle because they moved just enough between the toss and the charge. Stitches, on the other hand, is super accurate (assuming you have good aim and timing).

I'll post some thoughts on my favourite heroes later this week.

The problem with forcefield is that it competes with archon. Archon turns Tassadar into an outright carry. You can do some cute things with forcefield, but archon is a beast of an ultimate. Twilight archon simply wins games.

EDIT: I think I'd put symbiote on your list.

Fair enough. I didn't realize how strong archon was until I tried to 1v1 it with my DPS zeratul build and got my ass handed to me. I agree, I think Tassadar is too much of a boss to be shoehorned into a support role with forcefield.

Symbiote is good too, but I'm a little too biased from KawaiiRice now to speak about Abathur objectively lol. I WILL admit that the abahat changes the way the enemy team plays a lot; and figuring out whether the Abathur is going for a lane pushing build or a symbiote support build is really hard to decipher early on.
