[edit] I'll echo what you put in the OP, the disjointedness of the presentation of the mechanics and story was at first a little uninviting, but everything draws you in the more you see. Personally I like when things are mysterious, so this worked for me. I knew I was going to love this game from the first time I saw the trailer anyway. I really like systems that weave together the resources you have as a player, and extra points for layering in story elements on top of the function combo system. The combat is surprisingly fun. Usually I prefer games with more freeform interaction -- 2D range/speed based avoid/DPS combat generally feels shallow to me -- but I just appreciate the design of everything so much. The atmosphere brings it all together; it's difficult to pull myself away. I'm looking forward to sinking more hours into this. Has anyone tried using the limiters much yet? Also, the sandbox is such a nice "timeout" space within the game. | ||
