Hello TL!

In celebration of President's Day, I, like numerous people before me (specifically these two here and here) am making a promise that I undoubtedly will not keep. Simply post any and every music album you would like for me to listen to, without any type of restraint or understanding of my Musical Taste, and I will make a promise to not listen to it! You can take my unimpressive post-count as proof of my utmost respect for all of your suggestions, you anonymous internet stranger people that I am totally and deeply beholden to.

In fact, in special consideration for my nonexistent blog followers, and as thanks for spending so much of your precious time reading or perhaps commenting on this blog, I'll make an extra-special, jumbo-sized, all-inclusive, 2-for-1, buy-one-get-one-free offer of promising to not review the albums that I accidentally listen to. Yes, you heard it right, folks. I'm making a promise that is dependent on me breaking my anti-promise.

And I'm doing this all for you, TL. Because as we all know, our mutual love for Starcraft2/BW/DotA/LoL/HearthStone/GirlBlogs/K-pop/Banner-ads for Asian Singles/TLMafia means that you can trust me and depend on me to validate your musical tastes. There's a quote from my favorite movie, 500 Days of Summer, that I often think of in times like these: "...liking the same bizarro crap you do ... makes [a person] your soulmate".

Well, TL, you're not my soulmate, and we don't like the same bizarro crap. But I can pretend that we do. So please, make an utterly-hipster suggestion that I listen to your uncle's polka band, possibly with a blurb explaining why you love it as much as watching Classic BW. And I promise to read your comment, acknowledge all the effort and soul you put into it, and then ignore it.

Thank you, TL. And Flash bless you.

Recommend to you Down the Way by Angus & Julia Stone, as Im listening to it. You will like this album if you are into indie singer-songwriter kind of music, some like Damien Rice. They are pretty well-known actually

Are those songs meant to be painful to listen to on purpose? (Since typically queen, abba and beyonce are examples of mainstream music that are disliked in some circles -- although personally I really like abba)

Eminem - The marshall mathers LP 2.

If you've already heard it, you have good tastes.

If you havent, you probably hate eminem and therefore should suffer by default.

What are you saying? This is 'good' mainstream music, if anything. Beyonce's latest album has received great reviews, and I have to agree with them. Queen's album's individually might not be that great, but 'greatest hits' really shows why they got as famous as they were/are. Brian May's guitar work and Mercury's singing are great. And I suggest ABBA because I enjoy their music, and OP probably hasn't heard them that much.

Labeling people to like or dislike genres of music or artists is silly. It depends entirely of mood, your surroundings and whatnot. Maybe it's not 'cool' to like some genre of music, and others will try to fit in their group. Perhaps, you're feeling angry, which makes you want to listen to heavy metal and you won't ever be able to listen to pop music on that day. There are many variables which cannot be explained.

A few years ago I'd have thought that I wouldn't listen to genre's such as IDM, or classical, but now I've found myself to appreciating them more and more.

Yeah, but it's like if someone is asking for music suggestions and you say: "hey, listen to Rebecca Black's Friday". You can't blame me for suspecting sarcasm. Queen, Abba and Beyonce are super mainstream, you might as well have suggested "The Eagles - Greatest Hits" in terms of undiscovered musical gems.

Except that my suggestions aren't viral videos/meme's that became known for having horrible production and overuse of auto-tune. I don't see any reason to sense sarcasm in my post, because the fact is, my suggestions are actually acclaimed and respected artists, who sadly are only know for few songs. I mean, how many have heard Queen's song 'Innuendo'?

Im 22, but im no stranger to 70's or 80's music. Enjoy a whole lot of it actually. 60's is pushing it though. People really can just have completely different tastes and end up not having a clue about artists you consider gospel / mainstream / viral / whatever.

@OP - Listen to some Luther Vandross - Dance with my father (the album and song) are absolute gems.

But the Eagles are a staple of classic rock radio, the best selling band of all time before the 80's and a fixture in any sort of Top 1000 list you might hear on the radio. It's like not having heard of the Beatles.
