In celebration of President's Day, I, like numerous people before me (specifically these two here and here) am making a promise that I undoubtedly will not keep. Simply post any and every music album you would like for me to listen to, without any type of restraint or understanding of my Musical Taste, and I will make a promise to not listen to it! You can take my unimpressive post-count as proof of my utmost respect for all of your suggestions, you anonymous internet stranger people that I am totally and deeply beholden to.
In fact, in special consideration for my nonexistent blog followers, and as thanks for spending so much of your precious time reading or perhaps commenting on this blog, I'll make an extra-special, jumbo-sized, all-inclusive, 2-for-1, buy-one-get-one-free offer of promising to not review the albums that I accidentally listen to. Yes, you heard it right, folks. I'm making a promise that is dependent on me breaking my anti-promise.
And I'm doing this all for you, TL. Because as we all know, our mutual love for Starcraft2/BW/DotA/LoL/HearthStone/GirlBlogs/K-pop/Banner-ads for Asian Singles/TLMafia means that you can trust me and depend on me to validate your musical tastes. There's a quote from my favorite movie, 500 Days of Summer, that I often think of in times like these: "...liking the same bizarro crap you do ... makes [a person] your soulmate".
Well, TL, you're not my soulmate, and we don't like the same bizarro crap. But I can pretend that we do. So please, make an utterly-hipster suggestion that I listen to your uncle's polka band, possibly with a blurb explaining why you love it as much as watching Classic BW. And I promise to read your comment, acknowledge all the effort and soul you put into it, and then ignore it.
Recommend to you Down the Way by Angus & Julia Stone, as Im listening to it. You will like this album if you are into indie singer-songwriter kind of music, some like Damien Rice. They are pretty well-known actually
Beyonce - Beyonce ABBA - Gold: Greatest Hits MF DOOM - Operation Doomsday Paramore - Paramore Mastodon - Crack The Skye Queen - Greatest Hits I and II Rei Harakami - Lust Mount Kimbie - Cold Spring Fault Less Youth Deftones - Like Linus
Although most of the aren't new, you probably haven't heard at least some of those.

Are those songs meant to be painful to listen to on purpose? (Since typically queen, abba and beyonce are examples of mainstream music that are disliked in some circles -- although personally I really like abba)

What are you saying? This is 'good' mainstream music, if anything. Beyonce's latest album has received great reviews, and I have to agree with them. Queen's album's individually might not be that great, but 'greatest hits' really shows why they got as famous as they were/are. Brian May's guitar work and Mercury's singing are great. And I suggest ABBA because I enjoy their music, and OP probably hasn't heard them that much.
Labeling people to like or dislike genres of music or artists is silly. It depends entirely of mood, your surroundings and whatnot. Maybe it's not 'cool' to like some genre of music, and others will try to fit in their group. Perhaps, you're feeling angry, which makes you want to listen to heavy metal and you won't ever be able to listen to pop music on that day. There are many variables which cannot be explained.
A few years ago I'd have thought that I wouldn't listen to genre's such as IDM, or classical, but now I've found myself to appreciating them more and more.

Not sure what kind of freak of nature doesn't like Queen.

Yeah, but it's like if someone is asking for music suggestions and you say: "hey, listen to Rebecca Black's Friday". You can't blame me for suspecting sarcasm. Queen, Abba and Beyonce are super mainstream, you might as well have suggested "The Eagles - Greatest Hits" in terms of undiscovered musical gems.
Grumbels some people have completely different tastes. Now queen, abba and beyonce i can do, but who the hell are The Eagles? You see my point? (Will go and look them up now :D)
Also @Targe, agreed, LP is better but im enjoying the new one atm so D:

Except that my suggestions aren't viral videos/meme's that became known for having horrible production and overuse of auto-tune. I don't see any reason to sense sarcasm in my post, because the fact is, my suggestions are actually acclaimed and respected artists, who sadly are only know for few songs. I mean, how many have heard Queen's song 'Innuendo'?

How old are you?
Im 22, but im no stranger to 70's or 80's music. Enjoy a whole lot of it actually. 60's is pushing it though. People really can just have completely different tastes and end up not having a clue about artists you consider gospel / mainstream / viral / whatever.
@OP - Listen to some Luther Vandross - Dance with my father (the album and song) are absolute gems.

But the Eagles are a staple of classic rock radio, the best selling band of all time before the 80's and a fixture in any sort of Top 1000 list you might hear on the radio. It's like not having heard of the Beatles.
Then again, maybe this is mainstream as well... some artist who weren't know that much few years ago, such as James Blake, Arcade Fire or Vampire Weekend have all gotten really famous now. Besides I haven't keeped up with indie scene that much and haven't had interest in weird sounds for a while, thus I conclude that I'm not eligible to suggest music. I could say that Black Sabbath and Pearl Jam and Alice In Chains released new albums last year, but then that could be labeled mainstream and not innovative as well.
OP, I suggest you check last years top lists on sites such as pitchfork and rolling stones to see what new has happened in the music world.

lol, it's just that in some circles if you suggest beyonce, queen and abba you will be called out as a troll. nothing against those artists, but that was my thought process
@Laertes - Protest The Hero - I'm generally wary of metalcore, but this seems alright.
@Arcues - Angus & Julia Stone - Haunting and beautiful. Sort of like a mix between Marissa Nadler and Elliott Smith? Definitely checking this out.
@hp.Shell - Guster - Reminds me of Mexican rock (specifically Mana) with those hand drums, acoustic guitars, and wind instruments. Really unique. Instant fan. Portugal. The Man - I found out about these guys recently thru Tasteless' stream. Good stuff. Trampled by Turtles - Been looking for some nice folk/country stuff. This is really cool. Scar Symmetry - You're really bringing the variety. O_o Not in the mood for metal atm, but I'll definitely check it out later. I'm always a fan of metal with clean vocals. Them Crooked Vultures - awww ye. Totally forgot this was a thing. Kyuss is cool, Foo Fighters is fun, QotSA are rad. I'll probably like this. Madeon - meh. Sounds like something you'd hear on a commercial or something. Wasn't really looking for dance music either. I'll pass. But I really like your suggestions overall. Thx!
@Bunn - Sadly, Grumbels is mostly right. I mean, I like a lot of the stuff you listed (Huge fan of DOOM, I've listened to the entirety of Queen, Deftones and Mastodon's discography), but nothing really stands out as... unique. I haven't listened to ABBA, which I might do, but I'm not too interested in doing so. Nothing against it, but there's very few mainstream pop artists that interest me for very long (except for Kate Bush and Regina Spektor, I guess). And the two other things I haven't heard of on that list (Rei Harakami, Mount Kimbie) are EDM (to repeat what I said to hp.Shell, not really looking for dance music)... well, I guess Kimbie is downtempo/dubstep so that could be chill. I'll try that one.
@Omnishroud - Eminem - I've heard the original MMLP and I love its mad, cacophonous clusterfuck. I'll check this out when I have time. Just finished a large hip-hop binge, so I'm in the mood for other genres atm.
@all the ABBA supporters - aight. I guess I'll see what all the hype is about
@teddyyoojo - good kid maad city - I've only listened to singles, but I like em, so I guess I should check out the whole album.
@Grumbels - I fuckin HATE the Eagles, man.
@ PassiveAce - DOOM never fails to impress, and everything Dangermouse touches is gold. Love it.
@ ToastedBagel - Lunar Dunes - Holy Hipster, Batman! These guys don't even have a Wiki page! Sounds nice though. Particularly enjoying the drums. Good music for laddering.
@Sicion - The Glitch Mob - Not exactly sure what I think about these guys. The opening on that track was impressive, but as soon as it became more beat-focused it kinda lost my attention. I really love the Metroid-vide to some of the effects, but not a fan of the repetitive dance side. This is something I'd love to go to a live show and dance to, but not something I'd have on my ipod. Do these guy have other stuff that's more aural? I think I'd like that more. Cloudkicker - Some impressive tempo changes, but makes the same mistake most 'math' bands do - which is not focusing on the emotion. Sure, the music changes a lot, but the tone and feel never does. Nevertheless, I'll check out some more of these guys. Fabrizo Paterlini and A&M - kinda cool I guess. Nothing that stands out and makes me want to check out more.
