So somehow in the last week I've managed to do what I haven't been able to do for the last 4 months.
My sleep schedule has been wake up at 5, sleep at 9~.
Of course, this is great, except that for some reason I missed the memo telling me it's supposed to be 5AM, not 5PM.
So now I'm nocturnal.
This week is my study week before exams begin, so I have like 5 days to fix this so I don't sleep in on my exams. Any suggestions?
My main goal right now is pulling the "all-dayer" until 9PM so I sleep and wake on time, but I'm getting old and staying up that long is really difficult. ;;

a friend of mine did the same before some exams. he changed the sleep scedule by staying awake 2 hours longer every day. but i am not sure i you have enough time for that

I reset my sleep schedule every week or two. I find that you don't have to all nighter to 9pm; even if you manage to stay up to 5pm -> wake at 1 or 2am then you have more chance of sleeping later that day. It won't instantly fix your sleep pattern but it will take like 2 days and you'll be set.

its easiest to just delay sleep for 2 hours every day, but you cant do that.
so i suggest you gather some willpower and stay awake until its fixed. But dont oversleep that night, thats how i ruined those things 80% of the time :D

Can't really see the sun when I wake at 5.

I'm the same right now All I can hope to do is wake up 2 hours earlier once a week to eventually get back to normal, or just push it a few hours every day.

I've always toughed it out with the all-nighter, sort of a quick-fix

Don't plan sleep time, plan stay awake time. Stay awake from 8 til 22 regardless of anything and let your body work out the sleep cycle.

I've done this during long breaks from responsibility.
Find something to do (game to play or whatever) and pull an all-nighter to reverse it at some point.

Oh this is easy. I used to work nights, and then I had to go to days .
As you suggested, stay awake. You have to stay awake for like 30 hours or whenever you wish to sleep. And bam, you're back on sched. It's easier said than done though lol, trust me.
FYI, kiwis make you stay awake.

Take lots of showers (ideally cold water), eat regularly and ideally nothing with a lot of sugar. Try to avoid caffeine until like the last stretch because unless you're drinking it constantly you WILL crash at some point. Stay outside as much as you can until you get over the hump where it feels like your eyes have lead bricks on them (usually around ~20-24 hours up for me and then after that I get something like a second wind where I feel like I awake enough to go up to 40 hours).

Ive been the same way for 3 years, I'm fine.

I work shifts, so I can relate to your problem. What I usually do is, I'll sleep for 3 hours, force myself to wake up. That night I'll have a couple of beers and hit the bed early (9PM) and back to normal person’s sleep schedule.
Hope that helps.
Ps. Do an all-day-stay-awake but you need some help staying awake and not killing people (I get grumpy), get some caffeine pills form the pharmacy.

It's about 5PM and I'm going to crash. Wish me luck in waking up sometime normal. LOL fml
