1) I mean that just about every Zerg unit has more micro potential than the Hellbat does.

2) Hellbats are just ridiculously good in stats. 135 HP, two-shotting Zerglings and workers with AoE, and large damage vs other things too? If Tanks were any good, Mech would be OP with both the Tank and Hellbat. Think of it this way, with Bio, yes Marines are very strong, but at the same time the rest of the units can hold their own, albeit at a reduced effectiveness. Meanwhile, with Mech, Tanks are essentially useless without a bunch of Hellbats in front.

3) I meant in TvT. Obviously it's not OP anywhere else in direct engagements, and in TvT you can still circumvent using Medivacs, but it's extremely frustrating.

4) Yes.

5) This is with AoE, and by default, and they're extremely strong in direct engagements on top of that.

6) I really mean choose from any of those, pick one or more. Of course implementing all of them would be bad.

7) How are they good enough already? Without a meat shield of any kind they're absolutely terrible. With a meat shield they're only mediocre. I may as well go Marauder/Hellbat in TvP.

Its a nice change for once that terran finally gets a unit that doesn't require micro :D

Aside from that, if tanks were buffed. TvT would be changed forever man. No more bio vs mech plays

Try 50% more health on Hellions, plus if those Hellions start dealing damage, you're in for a world of hurt even if you're using Marauders instead of Marines.

I hate them because they seem so poorly designed. They're Frankenterran's monster. The bio tag and the whole transformation gimmick are the two ugliest points, IMO. What's even more aggravating is how they completely and utterly shit on any zergling play whatsoever. Mixed with bio? It's fucking retarded.

Hellbats are the epitome of Blizzard's retarded counter system.

I like hellbats, because I mech every MU. That said, I still prefer blue flame hellion openers in TvZ and TvT, especially safer against Zerg now because widowmine/siegetank is an instant alternative if a roachallin is coming. Still, too many lings makes for an autowin for me.

Haha I just clicked because I liked the title of the thread.
I think hellbats are fine.

As someone who likes to micro a lot, I don't use hellbats very often, because you don't gain enough by microing them for my taste.

They force to kite? Which Zerg never had to do (except with Broodlords, rofl). That's precisely the problem. Hellbats are useless if your opponent is mechanically sound enough to kite consistently your stuff and do other things at the same time.

I get what you're saying about them being a crutch. I feel like it was a cop out to kind of make htem a jack of all trade being able to be used with bio and mech. Not entirely sure what I would do to change it but a healable, mass produceacble, low micro, aoe unit is probably not the right way to go

As a recent zerg player who switched to terran, I'm glad hellbats exist . They really make zergling/baneling muta battles seem more fair. Most of the engagements I watch on Demuslim's stream seem to be pretty even for both sides.

Fair =! exciting. Imagine if in TvT people always had to build Hellbats- but the most you can micro with them is to put them in front of your Marines and to spread them against Tank splash. Completely useless. Now think of the player who doesn't build Hellbats losing horribly, just because he didn't build Hellbats.

That's pretty much how the Hellbat works with Mech right now. Terran may as well go Marauder/Hellbat, since positioning doesn't matter so long as you have Hellbats in front of your Siege Tanks, and it's why I hate the unit.

Maybe this is another QQ from noob, but how come a 'hellbat' can be healed? I mean this is the first-ever unit in Starcraft history(from SC1!) that is both bio-mechanical, then can be transform into mechanical and vise versa!!! Is it even logical? A factory unit (Factory in default, should produce ONLY MECH) can be biological like Barrack units? So I think hellbat should not have Bio tag! (or somebody has to say about why Viking in ground mode and it is not bio-mechanical...)

And how come it GAINs health when transformed? Viking doesn't get any extra hp but this factory unit can? Can anyone explain this to me? (no random post like "stop QQing noob" or "Don't play SC2" please )
