You are quite right. They probably have jobs where they earn more than they have being pro.
I was thinking like a 10k$ prizepool would be realistic of some sort to attract many to start training. Though probably not going to happen. Just an idea from my part.

Well obviously they retired for a reason, either better earnings or lost their former glory. SC2 is a new start, and there is no point going back to BW anymore since its pretty much dieing? (sorry to tell you the truth) They are all such a good genious players that can bring SC2 a lot. Also, players like Nestea (aka Zergbong) is a good example of someone who is quite old, past his glory days but still shown us that he has what it takes.
