Hey guys, sorry I haven't been around on the normal Tuesdays! Work has really been picking up as I'm almost done my work term, and back to school for the summer. (QQ) I haven't played allll that much, lately, but damn, I have a week off between work and school, and I might binge through Majoras Mask for the sake of getting back on track!!!
Ah yes, where we left off last time. I beat that fucking Dodongo ass. Now onto to see the Zoras! Well the walk here was nice, planted a fucking bean, flew around with a chicken, you know the typical walk along the river as link. Jumping through waterfalls and shit like its no big thing. Go dive off a motherfucking waterfall looking for rupees, its like a glorified day at the pool, looking for those coloured disks, except blue rupees are worth monies.
This is a part where I got stuck FOREVER as a kid. I didn't notice the underwater tunnel and never found the letter. The letter would be so unobvious without that tunnel. FML. So I give fat guy the letter and get eaten. Fuck, don't remember this dungeon at all. I don't even remember the boomerang or the naked zora child porn mechanic. Where you can throw her at electric Jellyfish and use her as a counter weight for switches. Overall, hardest of the first 3 dungeons. Boss was pretty fun cause I love using the boomerang. I will complain that the boomerang mechanic in 3D is pretty hard to use.
Just shitting in the towns water supply
FastForward - Im grabbing the motherfucking master sword. And bam im an adult. Adult link is so much fucking cooler. I don't have to spam A anymore cause I can ride a fucking horse. I look better graphics wise. But then I walk into town, where these creepy scary zombies are, and I just want to cry in the corner and become a kid again *-_-.
They don't only scream, but they hump your fucking face while tearing off the top of your scalp.
And I get the hookshot. On that topic, I also completely forgot about this little demon race to get the hookshot. But at least its obvious, everyones like GO HERE, then when your at the town there like, HE DIED WITH ITEM.
I run and find the forrest dungeon get the new song. Jam with that shiek bitch. (Note the fuckign song warp mechanic to dungeons is so KICK ASS) Hook my way into that forrest temple. Holy shit, I don't remember the forrest temple being this creepy. The music reminds me of a zombie carnival in an insane assylum of something. This added with the hand coming from the ceiling, what a nightmare.
Fun dungeon though. The poe mechanic was really awesome, finding them all and killing them, and doing that puzzle. I love the bow and arrow, it translates so well to 3D. I got stuck for a good half hour looking for a key, turns out it was in the top of a tree in the first room! Fuck you OOT! Now onto the boss, Phantom Ganon. Ganon is pretty badass, now make him a nightmare horse flying ghost man coming out of paintings and shit. This boss battle is fairly generic, shoot him coming out of painting then play tennis with his energy ball. But the graphics on Ganon himself were sick.
Phantom Ganon coming out of paintings and shit
Alright here is where I legit got stuck. Finding the red tunic. FML. I found the fire temple, and talked to everyone. NO NPC gives hints on this. God damn. Things I did before going to fire temple: Get Iron boots Get Blue Tunic Get Geurdo Pass
BTW the Geurdo Lesbian temple, I never knew you could snipe them with arrows, how brutal for a kids game. I always jsut snook around them. Head shotting them with arrows was so much fun!
Then I finally bombed that little fucker and he gave me the tunic. But I WAS SURE I TRIED THIS. Guess not. >_>.
Go into the fire temple and I always remember this being my favourite as a kid. I don't know why. Maybe because I loved wearing the red tunic, and I loved the huge hammer. (Shit this is the first time I connected the hammer from AoL Daym) I really love the concept of this dungeon. I think almost all, or all the keys were found by saving gorons. It really connected as going into goron city it felt like a ghost town. Saving them made you feel good, and they also gave you a hint. It really flowed well with the whole dungeon.
Not only that, but things such as the flame dancer mini bosses were really fun and memorable. I loved killing them. And the annoying fucking invisible flame walls LOL. Onto the boss, hes a huge ass dragon that you play whack a mole with. Its pretty fun, but the camera can get disoriented when hes flying up high, making it hard to see. He looks really fucking cool and the music is intense.
Volvagia
Next I will be going into the Water temple and seeing if it really is all that difficult!? If my memory serves me right, I will be ripping out my hair, using the iron boots alot, and hookshotting around!
Note this shit has taken me like 10.5 Hours, extremely slow for me, been getting stuck more than I thought, and don't remember much!
Overall Progress: Legend of Zelda (Completed) - 10 Hours Zelda 2: Adventure of Link (Completed) - 16.5 Hours Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past - 8.75 Hours (Completed) Links Awakening - 10.5 Hours (Completed) Orcarina of Time - 10.5 Hours
Coming up Next: Herp Water Temple Derp Hopefully finish game
As long as you follow the water temple in a linear fashion it's pretty easy. Just don't make any mistakes because it's the backtracking that will make you pull your hair out.
10.5 hours for just up to the fire temple? That is slow :O

Of course, the "don't make any mistakes" is much easier said than done muahahahaha
On a semi-related note, there recently was a huge upset in the speedrunning community. Someone discovered a new glitch allowing OoT to be completed in a little over 20 minutes.
Those of you susceptible to having your mind blown should not watch this.

Whoa, nice. Before I watch this, what was the new discovery? I just checked SDA to see if a recent run was posted, and the latest OoT run there is still 1:16:xx...
Edit: took a minute to just google it, lazy me. I was thinking it was something I wouldn't have immediately picked up on, but that's crazy.

SDA doesn't update immediately since the criteria for getting a run put up on SDA are VERY strict. Within the month I'm sure someone will get a sub-24:00 run accepted

I don't quite understand what I just watched but it was awesome O.o
I don't understand it either, but it was one of the most glorious things I've ever seen.
From Joystiq:
The glitch involves defeating Queen Gohma and activating, but not traveling through, the warp gate, which then drops child Link in Ganon's castle, and miniaturized missions ensue.

Saria's song was always my favourite. It's so happy and innocent, I have always found it impossible not to like. Except on the way to the forest temple, I searched and searched for a skulltula that I knew was there. After about 15 minutes20 minutesforever of walking in circles hoping it would show up, I gave up. It was then that I realized that it was daytime and the skulltula would never show as long as I didn't leave that screen. Sigh. I heard this song loop so many times. Derp + Show Spoiler +

"Listen up Link, to complete your quest of saving Hyrule you will need to travel to the deepest lakes, the highest mountains, and the hottest deserts. You must gain entry to the sacred realm by defeating the monsters guarding the gems, after which you will travel to the future where you must find the 6 sages to seal the king of evil away!"
Or you can just grab a stick, put some bugs in a jar, and jump around like an idiot.

Actually the only large-skip glitch run that is currently on SDA is single segment, and this video does have a save/reload portion in it (though they probably just did it to save time instead of walking back to the tree), so it's possible that this wouldn't be accepted if that save/reload is actually required for the glitch to work (Probably not true). I think SDA really doesn't do so well in keeping up with what people are actually racing, which is a shame, don't even have an OoT section for MST, which is probably the most competitive race in the game, maybe you could argue child dungeons as well.
OT: Can't believe you couldn't get the red tunic man! I also find it funny that you thought it might be in Gerudo Fortress instead of, you know, somewhere close to Death Mountain Water temple is a breeze if you've done it before, if you pay attention to cutscenes when you raise/lower water levels or hit switches you probably wont have any trouble

Indeed, if I could do it when I was 7-8 years old and only knew hello and goodbye in english I am sure you can do it!
