I've been getting incredibly frustrated with SC II recently. I'm in college, and getting behind at the start of this semester has decided to bite me in the ass, and with all the time I have to spend studying and doing work for school to catch back up, it's hard to find time to ladder.
Ordinarily this would be fine; I can live without playing 24/7. The problem arises from the fact that I've somehow managed to improve considerably as a player without laddering a lot to increase my MMR. At present, I'm ~rank 20 Gold, and I don't think I've lost any games since my "Oh shit; I know how to play!" moment (aside from an awkward game today where I accidentily played random and ended up with Terran, my absolute worst race).
I'm playing against high Golds, mid Plats, and I got a game in against a Diamond level Protoss as well. The problem? Every game I've played has been easy. I mean ridiculously easy.
I used to have on and off ladder anxiety, but now I just don't feel like laddering at all because it doesn't even feel like I'm playing. There's no challenge, no "ohshit!" moments where I'm scrambling to get a defense up or hold a push; even if they push, I hold with ease and then take another base or two.
None of this is meant to imply that I'm an amazing player either; my macro of late has been decent at best; I forget to make macro hatches and get supply blocked occasionally once I've safely droned up 3 bases and start actually making army. I'm frequently in situations where I'll just A-move 20 mutas into a marine ball and let them all die, out of nothing more than laziness.
I can lose 20 mutas and kill 4 marines and still be very much in the lead. I can flood a hundred lings into a Terran's wall and lose them all to siege tanks with the knowledge that no matter what he does I'm still too far ahead to lose, unless I walk away from my computer or something.
I'm pretty much smashing everyone I play against, and at the end of the game it's honestly painful to be polite and give my opponent a "gg". It feels wrong to imply in any way that what my opponents are doing can be construed as "good"; I'm playing sloppily, making major decisions on a whim, and generally playing horribly, yet my opponents' are letting me win anyway.
I can't devote enough time to ladder up to a level that will actually offer some challenge, and what little time I do have to play I hesitate to waste on a mind-numbingly easy ladder game or two. I just want to have a challenge >_<

I don't want to burst your bubble, but to get a challenge you need to play more and rank up. I'm trying to sort this out logically.
1. You don't have time to ladder. 2. If you think you're better than what is shown by your MMR, then play tournaments, those offer a challenge and you get to make money if you're really that good.
Regards

I hope someone out there is making a "TL Humblebrag Hall of Fame" for posts like these

I know what you mean. It's like you really expect the guy in the $4300 suit to hold the door for you? COME ON.

0/5 stars.. stupidest blog ive ever read.
go fuckin play the game ... you're obviously not at your actual league.. stop qqing about it being too easy, this game is fucking hard
"i can lose 20 mutas to 4 marines and still be ahead, QQ this game so easy" l m f a o....
and who says GG after they win anyway? no one does this.... so another reason why this is retarded blog.
sorry for speaking my opinion, but you asked for it.

Such a shit attitude. It's not about saying your opponent did anything good, but it happens that he beats you and as you are not a dick (?) you stay civilized and polite, and you don't behave like one of this moronic rude internet nerds who think they can behave like complete jerk because they are hidden behind their screen. So you say gg like a decent human being and leave.
Seriously.
I never missed a gg in 1v1 unless my opponent has himself be excessively rude. It's almost a question of self respect. I have high enough esteem of myself to think that I can handle a loss without behaving like a dog.

I have a really funny feeling his "Oh shit; I know how to play!" moment was a few days ago and since he only plays 1-2 games a day he is on around a 5 win streak and thinks he can't lose to gold/plat players.

I don't even think this qualifies as a humblebrag. It's just a brag. I hope this is a troll, otherwise .

I'm at work right now. I wasn't even logged you see! But this was so amazing that I had to stop by to just let out my
LOL
Actually this blog is such a big fat lie, I was expecting some guy who was genuinely raging because he cares about this game and he gets so sensitive that he can't get himself to type GG after he loses yet one more game but he still feels bad because he didn't GG a worthy opponent and what I got was a gold zerg who let his beloved mutas die for nothing bragging about how he can do that and still win AND NOT GG.
(and, if you are not losing games you are not expected to gg, they gg and if they are fast enough you wont even have time to gg)

While you were writing this blog you could have probably played a ladder game.. just sayin..
|
So play when you can, and if you keep winning your MMR will shoot up, matching you against better players. Why take the time to post this?
|
If you won't gg to someone because you think their play is bad, you probably shouldn't be calling anything you do in this game even "decent," because it's not decent if you're in gold/plat. Sorry buddy.
|
This guy isn't good at the game, so I don't think its a brag blog...
If you're only in gold/plat, then nothing you are going can be thought of as good either, so your opponents shouldn't gg you. SC2 is a manner game, you should gg at the end when you lose. When you win, you don't have to because the person you play against will generally leave after he ggs.
If you're not finding a challenge when you're playing now, then keep on winning. Go on a 20 game win streak and get your mmr up to masters. If you're not korean gm level, then you will at some point find a challenge on ladder. i played my friends account and went on a 20 game win streak and it put me from bronze to masters. It doesn't matter if you did this in 1 week, like I did, or 6 months, because blizz doesn't care how much time you take to play unless you skip 2 seasons in a row and your mmr resets.
Keep on playing when you can, try to entertain yourself by microing and macroing, and at some point you will get a challenge on ladder.

I'm waiting for an "I'M NESTEA" anytime soon now

If he is only playing a few matches a day and used to play a lot more, then he is probably winning because, peculiarly enough, the first few matches of the day you tend to play an order of magnitude above what you would around the fifth or so game of the day. I typically NEVER lose the first match, win the second match most of the time, usually win the third and then afterwards it starts to get to a point where I wonder how the hell I got so bad in just 1-2 hours. In the end, I settled into the habit of playing 1-3 games a day and despite the fact I rarely ever lost, I never really got promoted. MMR is weird like that.

I'M NESTEA
Too soon ?

You have misconceptions about the game and about etiquette. You can't be winning every game without playing harder opponents and ranking unless you mean you played 5 games and won them all. 20 games in a row doesn't happen without you being significantly better than your opponents so if you had a SC epiphany and now have great game sense and mechanics, you are lying.
GG doesn't mean the game was good...if that were the case, no one under the pro level should type it. Most games are atrocious but GG'ing is basic StarCraft table manners if you will. Who cares that you were both floating money like crazy...it's like a kid playing tee ball and after the game saying, "Well, we didn't really play like major league players and we stomped you...I'm not shaking your hand." It's an arbitrary act to show respect...I hope you and the plethora of other narcissists that are posting these blogs lately have fun at the top of GM. I'm sure we'll all be begging for replay packs soon enough.
