not really depressing for me, but in the general forum
I was going to write this in website feedback: We really need another place to put depressing news. Every day i see more depressing stories in the general forum and it makes me so sad and depressed. Maybe we could have a news section and then another section for other stuff? i dont know it is just sad to see so much stuff..........
but then i stopped because i thought it was more of a blog thing....... so here i am.........
i hate depressing news!

Sadness is the only thing that makes me feel Aliiiiive. /emo
Now that that's out of my system, I agree. A sub category is needed.
|
lawl. How about a personalized news section that cheers you up when your sad and calms you down when youre too happy.

At the moment, I see
New Birth Control? <- probably cause for celebration My Little Pony <- awesome Iraqu mother of 5 beaten <- unfortunate, pretty depressing Legend of Korra <- super hype Getting offended <- your average discussion.
Along with these, I can assume the KMD, the PUA, the Anime, Walking Dead, the K-drama, funny pics, desktop, and youtube thread are all on the front page. Seems pretty solid to me
|
I thought this was the reason why we had a My Little Pony thread? It balances things out pretty well.
|
At first it kinda gets me down, but then I look at the Sriracha Sauce thread and then everything is 'k.
|
yeeeeh i guess its not bad.....maybe i should just not click on it haha
|
I just avoid the general thread. Seems a place where people who think other people care about their opinion tell people why everyone but them is stupid. Excluding My Little Pony I guess...but that just plain creeps me out.
|
I usually keep General minimized. It just sucks that the random pics and youtube threads are there. Only bad & depressing news sell nowadays it seems. I can't even think of seeing non-sc2 related news that were somehow positive. Also, news of some person dying and then 30 pages of R.I.P. is hardly a good thread by any standards.
|
I usually handle it by assuming that at least 50% of the article is complete bullshit, artificially inflated with baaaw to make it newsworthy.
|
I don't think it's necessary.. that's just the nature of news, really haha

Have you ever read the news? Little Jimmy getting a great big hug from Grandma is not an interesting story, and nobody bothers to report on it because nobody will bother to read it. Little Jimmy getting into Grandma's meds and wandering off into the woods in a drug-fueled haze never to be seen again is a story that people will read, so it gets reported.

Actual justice, improvements to society, and corruption being rooted out would be interesting stories too. It just does not happend because humanity is shit.

O Rly? http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-middle-east-17522398
If people actually watched the news rather than using TL's general tab, they might realise that there is the odd bit of interesting and positive news...
Edit: another random example it took me two seconds to find http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-17526613
